I have a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo straight 6 4.0 AWD it's charging at 13 so I went to Autozone they checked my alternator and my voltage regulator failed? What is the least expensive fix

It would be more cheaper to buy a new car than to try and fix the car that is broken. Both the alternator and the voltage regulator need to be replaced for your car.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Battery light comes on randomly .... new alternator new battery ... Light still coming on , today dealership says melted battery harness wire How can this be ?

from a faulty voltage regulator
a voltage regulator controls the voltage to 14.5-14.8 volts and the maximum current is set by the windings in the alternator
if the voltage is uncontrolled , so is the current produced
also melted wires comes from dead shorts that are not fuse controlled

Where is the voltage regulator on a 1992 Dodge Dakota.

The Voltage regulator is built into the alternator. Meaning it's inside the alternator. As far as I know, it's replaceable. I know it is on GM products for I replaced many, but haven't done a Chrysler product regulator. Nonetheless, the alternator has to come off and be dismantled, but it isn't a hard project to do. Regulators are not that expensive, it's cheaper than renewing the complete alternator.

What rgulates the voltage on my engine

The voltage on the vehicle is regulated by the "Voltage Regulator" inside the alternator. There is no need to change the complete alternator, just the regulator.

I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee. its not charging. i've had the alternator and battery tested they're good. is it the voltage regulator? if so how do I change it? where is it? or can it be something else...

How can the Alt and Battery be good, but not charging? The Voltage Regulator is inside the alternator. Keep out of the Parts Store and take it to a shop and have it checked on the truck. you may have wiring issues.

99 jeep cherokee sport 4.0l 6cyl voltage will go to 19v

The problem sounds intermittent, if you put volt meter on the battery while it is at that 19volt mark/reading(on the gauge cluster) you will be able to see if it is true. If your alternator is really charging over 16volts the lights should be getting brighter then usual and/or they are burning out. Find out ASAP, if the alternator has a defective voltage regulator, it needs to be replaced. Prolong use will damage components.
