There is no idle adjustment screw on this engine, which is normal for EFI engines. The idle is controlled by the car's computer. It does this by controlling the Idle Air Control - IAC - valve, which should be checked in your case. See here p271

http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/eg2.pdf

There is a throttle stop screw, not the same, on the throttle body, which you may be thinking of, p263. This does not directly control idle speed.

Also the A/C, if any, can affect the idle if the A/C idle-up switch has failed. If testing this switch, do so when the engine is hot, as that is when they fail. See p295

SOURCE: How to remove ignition cylinder from Toyota Camry 1993

Here are step-by-step instructions for the removal and re-installation of your ignition cylinder on your Toyota. Hope this sheds some light on the subject and solves your problem. Have a great day!

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an air bag, wait at least 90 seconds before working on the vehicle.
CAUTIONSome models covered by this guidemay be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in .
  1. Remove the lower steering column cover. Unfasten the ignition switch connector under the instrument panel.
  2. Remove the screws which secure the upper and lower halves of the steering column cover.
  3. Turn the lock cylinder to the ACC position with the ignition key.
  4. Push the lock cylinder stop in with a small, round object (cotter pin, punch, etc.).
On some vehicles, it may be necessary to remove the steering wheel and combination switch first.
  1. Withdraw the lock cylinder from the lock housing while depressing the stop tab.
  2. To remove the ignition switch, unfasten its securing screws and withdraw the switch from the lock housing.
To install:
  1. Align the locking cam with the hole in the ignition switch and insert the switch into the lock housing.
  2. Secure the switch with its screw(s).
  3. Make sure both the lock cylinder and column lock are in the ACC position. Slide the cylinder into the lock housing until the stop tab engages the hole in the lock.
  4. Install the steering column covers.
  5. Connect the ignition switch wiring.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

SOURCE: '03 Toyota Corolla 1,4 VVT-i 4ZZ engine idle rpm

Idle is factory set and cannot be adjusted, your best bet is checking for cracked hose pipework for air intake at idle,(not at problem under exceleration and driving) Any slight upset to the air /fuel ratio will be most prevelent at idle speeds.Check hoses where the meet metal flanges on manifold intakes and any sharp bends in ppipes.Good luck

SOURCE: how do I adjust the idle on a 2000 toyota tundra

This is all controlled by a computer, you are going to need to take it to a dealer, OR you can buy a tuner that will also control idle

Where is the idle adjustment screw on a 1993 Toyota Camry 6 cylinder?

There is no idle screw. Remove the air tube at your throttle plate and look inside to see if it has any type of build up on the throttle plate. Open the throttle up with your hand or have someone in the car with the engine off and while using a flashlight look and see if the plate is in need of cleaning as this will cause the idle to be low. Good luck!

Why does my 1992 camry v-6 idle fast?

Possibly either your A/C idle up vacuum valve has failed, or the Idle Air Control valve (IAC) needs cleaning.

How to adjust base idle speed 0n 1998 toyota camry 5s Fe

This should be set by the idle speed sensor but on some units there is an adjustment on the throttle cable stop. Have a mechanic do the job as if you upset the sensor settings too far the cpu will give you grief.. Normal idle will be about 900-1000rpm hot or about 1200 cold for a few minutes,

Want to turn up idle on 1995 camry whers idle ajustment located

Technically, its not adjustable.
The computer controls idle speed with the idle air control valve.
There may be a small screw on the side of the throttle body that will move the base idle position, but your real problem may be a dirty throttle body.

94 toyota camry has low idle and stalls when in reverse

Idle adjustment should be @600 to 700 RPM with the car in gear and emergency brake on if the car is an automatic trans. Adjust idle accordingly. If a standard the idle should be @ 650 RPM at idle.

Idles too fast on a cold 4 cylinder engine, otherwise fine. Do not know if adjustable. If so, where is idle screw?

Fuel injected?could be a sensor i would take it to a mechanic and pay $25 to have the computer read out to see if any error codes are present.

1991 Toyota Camry 4cyl idles at 1300 RPM... There is no idle adjustment screw. bad sensor of some sort? Can't pass my smog because the idle is too high. Runs okay otherwise.

look for a vacuum leak into the intake manifold (possible brake booster vac leak), check the idle air control valve for proper operation, check for EGR valve with bad diaphragm or stuck open.
