2001 A6 brake light & ESP light

I replaced the passenger side rear brake light, now both rear side brake lights don't come on AND the ESP light is now showing. I've checked the fuses and they seem to be fine too. Any ideas??
Thanks!
-Tom

Your brake light swich is broken. This controls your brake lights, ABS light, and cruise control. It's a $4 part, that is attached to your brake pedal lever under your drivers side dash. After you remove the panel below the dash, its an easy do-it-yourself repair. This part has a plunger that goes in an out when you press your brake pedal.

Goto a VW or Audi dealer and ask for a Brake light switch for your specific model. I just replace my Brake Light Switch on my 2002 A6 last week. I first noticed that my ABS light was on, them my cruise didn't work. Then to my surprise I was driving w/o brake lights!!! A new switch fixed the problems.

Sounds like you have blown the fuse to this circuit.
Check you were supplied the correct bulb and replace fuse.

2006 audi A6 ESP light problem ESP light comes

A good place to start is the brake light switch.
There are 2 circuits in there: 1 for the brake lights and the other for the car computer (ESP, Engine brake etc...)
If the brake switch has an intermittent fault, the EPS light may come on and the car may run rough until you stop the vehicle and remove the key. It then re-set itself until the next time you are using the brakes and the fault appears again.

Service the anti lock brake system and have a diagnostic test done to find out exactly what parts are giving you the trouble codes.

I have a 03 Audi A6 Quattro with the ESP & ABS light on

It's probably your brake check switch going bad, it's under the driver's side dash above the brake pedal. I had the same problem and eventually my cruise control and brake lights stopped working when it failed completely. This is also a redesigned part that you can get from the dealer for about $8, which to me indicates they new the part caused problems and failed to notify owners. Try that before Audit tries telling you wires are faulty.

Rear lights

Sounds like a water leaking issue. Try taking out the whole light panel, drying it and spraying it with DW 40. worked for me
