SOURCE: Stalls when engne warms up

Your ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) sensor is bad. What's happening is at cold start it richens up the fuel mixture and as it warms up the ECM thinks it's still cold and essentially the "choke" is still on. Also check your coolant level. If you don't have enough coolant in you engine/radiator, the ECT doesn't know what to do so it thinks it's cold.

SOURCE: 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalls when brakes are applied

My 2000 Grand Cherokee had the same problem, without all the sputtering, it would just die approaching a stop. We could only keep it running by slightly pushing down on the gas petal when coming to a stop. I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor, but that didn't change anything. A new mechanic I found replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and we've had no problems in a week.

Because you disconnected the battery you lost the long trim value, you will now have to relearn the idle, start the vehicle idle it to 1500 RPM,hold for a minute, idle should stabilize, turn on A/C let it idle, for a minute, now your done,

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a rough idle at first

You do have a filter and it's mounted right on top of the pump on outside of tank...it is also the pressure regulator. You really should put a pressure gauge on the fuel system and check it out though. you may find there is a problem elsewhere. Good and proper testing is the only way to get answers about problems especially now that systems are all electronically controlled.

1999 jeep cherokee wont idle cold

The iac would be my first guess but this troubles me as the when the engine is cold all the sensors are ignored until the fuel system goes into "open mode" but to change the iac is simple 2 screws and unplug the module and instructions come with a new one to tell you how far the air pintle is supposed to be set at,
If you can change your own oil than this is easy.
I did rebuild wrecked vehicles for about 15 yrs and gave it up as back in the day we never wore mask's and hacked up to much hardner so now I just fix them,in a chrysler, jeep dealership of course.
