The cooling fan doesnt work on my 91 honda accord

The fuse isnt blown and the switch has been changed , even when you turn the AC on it starts to over heat with in 20 to 30 mins

  • Freddy Lewis Mar 13, 2009

My daughters 2005 Honda Civic has a problem running hot. The cooling fans defintely work. She changed the raditor cap and Tstat 4 months ago, but problem is still there. I let it idle for 20 mins, no problem, then at the drop of a hat the temp goes to HOTT!!, turn it off and within 2 mins the  temp drops to 3/4. Same as when driving. Seems like the TStat gets stuck and won$t' allow the coolant to circulate, thens will open, then gets stuck again. We checked the oil and tail pipe and have no signs of moisture or coolant, or milky looking oil or oily residue in the coolant, which seems to eliminate a blown head gasket.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. Cooling fan Relay
  2. Engine temp Sensor
  3. Cooling fan itself
  4. If While A/C is on Fan does not come on I would Check Fan By unplugging it first than apply Pos+ and Neg- to it if it comes on that's eliminated Then go to step 1-3 one of them is bad I usually replace Engine temp sensors no mater what they are Crucial components for the safety of the Engine.

Radiator and condenser fans do not go off whenever ac is switched on on 1999 honda accord

The fans will likely come on with the A/C. One is to help cool the radiator when you aren't moving, and the other is for the A/C when there isn't enough airflow to cool the condenser. Both fans may continue to run even after the car is turned off.

Ac/heater fan doesn't work

According to my wiring diagram, the blue and white wire from the blower motor gets power from the key switch. The fan switch and resistor grounds the motor.
No blower fuse is listed.

91 honda accord fan stars when you shut off engine

There are two fan switches on that car;
The main one turns the fan on and off when the ignition is on and the car is running.
The second switch powers the fan if the ignition is off and the engine temperature is too high, to cool the engine off if it was just shut down.
It sounds like your main fan switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced since it's not sending any signal to the fan, while the engine is running.

97 accord lx overheats unless ac is on

If the cooling fans are not coming on when the vehicle is overheating try this.

Look for the coolant temp switch B. it will be located near the thermostat housing on the back side of the passenger side of the engine (follow the lower hose to the engine). It will have a white with green wire and a black wire. Unplug it, turn the key to the run position, the engine does not need to be running. ground the white with green wire. if the fans come on replace the coolant temp switch B sensor.

91 honda accord won't start sometimes-battery, a/c, starter?

Your tempermental starting problem could be the park neutral safety switch . They get worn inside an cause this type problem . Next time it won't start place gear selector into neutral an see if it starts then . The cooling running problem is probably the cooling fan timer module . From the diagram it's hard to say which side the A/C condenser fan is on. The A/C fan has blue with yellow stripe wire in the connector along with a black one . I would also suggest you have a qualified repair shop do a voltage drop test on the starting circuit .
How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit

Starter Voltage Drop These test's will find any starting circuit problem .

I have a 93 honda accord ex, the car over heats only at a idle and i also noticed that the fan doesnt come on while the car is getting hot it only comes on when i turn the car off, i replaced the...

I would have it checked for a blown head gasket. Combustion gasses in the cooling system can keep the temperature switch for the fan from operating properly.
