If you made sure your battery connections are tight then you may need trace you hot wire for a bad connection around the fusible links that run from battery.
check to make sure the top of your fuel tank is clear of mud or debris. Also check around your evap system which is right above the back axle of your pickup which is black plastic container. If you are dusty roads a lot this can become plugged off. There is a update at the dealerships for re-routing the vapor canisters on these pickups.
These engines did make a little rattle when first cranked. Are you running an ac/delco filter? i have seen a lot of engines make noise from cheap oil filters. they will let all the oil drain out so when you start it has to fill the filter back up before getting oil to engine
