1996 Toyota Tacoma wont start when the engine is hot and sits a few minutes

1996 tacoma pickup 4 cylinder, 5 speed.
when the engine gets warm and you stop somewhere for a few minutes the engine will not crank, just turns over and over.Starts great when cold and runs great allways.Toyota mechanic checked fuel pressure and said it was fine. He is thinking maybe crank sensor, or module in the distributor
Anybody got any ideas same problem here. my 97 tacoma 3.4l is very hard starting after running for a while. it starts eventually but cranks forever. first i thought it was vapor locking so i replaced the radiator and the fan clutch. but problem is still here. maybe its a sensor? i am lost at this point. my dad thinks it is the crank position sensor. any suggestions need some help here

I'm the 10% that the new temperature sensor did not work. What did work was leaving the temperature sensor disconnected. Then a second superior solution that worked was to add a 100 ohm resister in series with the temperature sensor. This makes the electronics think the air temperature is slightly cooler than it is. Because the electronics checks the air temperature with the coolant temperature, I think what is really happening is increased resistance in the coolant sensor wiring. But for the past several months a 100 ohm resister solved the problem.

Could be a oil pressure switch not letting the ignition fire because it doesn't detect enough pressure.

How do i preform a Distributor resistance check / ignition coil resistance check.. on 1996 toyota tacoma 4x4 2.7 liter 4 cyl. engine truck is getting fire/fuel no start.

An engine needs 3 things to run, Spark, Fuel, & Compression. If you have verified that you have spark at the plugs, and fuel is making it into the cylinder, and the engine has the proper amount of compression to run... these also have to happen in the correct time. Make sure your timing marks all line up.

2007 Toyota Tacoma v6. Hard to start about 1 hour after initial cold start, longer cranking. Problem?

Is the check engine light on? How long has it been since the engine was tuned up? A worn plug that is "hot soaked" can create a longer cranking time. Hot soaked means it may have some un-burned fuel in the cylinder since the first cold start. A weak or worn plug has a harder time getting this fuel burned out of the cylinder when more fuel is being added during a warm start.

1996 toyota tacoma wont start when it's hot & sitting a while. when restart attempted only hear cylanoid clickingll

Your starter is going bad. When the brushes and bushings get worn, it does exactly what your describing. Sometimes you can Wack the starter with a hammer and it will start(if you can get to it) a good solid blow or 2...just make sure you don't wack the solenoid. Change your starter or have it rebuilt.
