    I have a 2007 corolla that my engine light comes on and then the car shifts hard , when the light goes off it shifts fine can anybody help thank you.

    I am sooooo upset by this whole thing. I had a 2005 toyota that had numerous things wrong that had to be traded for the car I have now. It sat at the dealer for 3 weeks. It was the same type of thing. They knew about the problem blah blah blah.

    I have a 2005 Corolla. It's under the 96 months but I have 85000+. Can I just replace myself, or should i bring it to the dealer? I'm soon due for a ATF drain and fill in a couple months.

    i have '06 corolla with the same thing--check engine light on, shifts hard/check engine light off, does ok. autozone put thingy on it and long story short, shift solenoid needs to be replaced. car has 127,000 mi. toyota wants $900 to fix it, when the part comes in (it's on backorder--apparently there's been an outbreak of solenoid flu and their having trouble keeping them in stock) here's a thought--toyota, step up. you had to develop a whole new part (ECM?) to bandage an existing one? i bought this car brand new and it wasn't cheap, but toyota's always had a very good reputation. keep it that way.

You probably have a DTC code of P-2716.

Toyota knows about this issue, and a new engine Control Module (ECM) has been developed to rectify this condition. If your car is under 96 months old, and has less than 80,000 miles, the ECM will be replaced FREE by your Toyota dealer. The replacement ECM corrects the shifting issue.
Mention Tech Service Bulletin "TC015-07" when you take it in for service. If you are beyond the time and mileage as listed above, I can give you the part number for the ECU, if you want to purchase one.

Check all the fuses located in the lower panel of the dash board on the passenger side with a test light 12V or multimeter. Ground one end of the tester to good known ground and the tip to each side of every fuse one by one. If the tester light glows that particular fuse under test is OK. If not, that fuse is burnt. Replace it with the same rating of new fuse and you are good to go.

2005-07Toyota Corolla Hard to Start/Harsh Shift/Check Engine Light On
There is a known issue with the 2005-2007 Corolla automatic transmission shift logic. The shift points may seem harsh, and the Check Engine light may be illuminated.

There is a technical service bulletin published that will address and rectify this condition.

The diagnostic code P2716 will be stored in the computer memory. The procedure involves replacing the Engine Control Module (the computer) with an updated unit.

The repair is covered, under the factory warranty, for 96 months, or 80,000 miles, which ever comes first.

My 2006 corolla has started to exhibit a strange revving of the rpm's and slight acceleration when i'm driving. Could this be the ecm recall or something else with the transmission
If you are using your defroster that I am sure in this weather, the computer increase the RPM to compensate for the load created by the compressor.

The symptoms for those people who haven't do the recall is hard shifting and no start condition. check engine light with codes p2716,p600, p607

You need to have the car scanned for fault codes to determine the nature of the problem. Go to AutoZone or similar place to have the codes scanned.

P2716 pressure control solenoid d 2005 toyota corolla 117000 miles check engine light on
This is very common on Matrix/Corollas and is repairable by way of replacement PCM to correct invalid parameters. the labor is low but the part is very expensive.

Expect approximately $89 or less in labor, and $648 for the new PCM

Some 2005 - 2007 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles equipped with an automatic transaxle may exhibit a harsh shift condition and a M.l.L. ON" with DTC P2716 stored.
Improvements have been made to the Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term:
Powertrain Control Module/PCM) to reduce the possibility of this condition occurring.

^ 2005 - 2007 model year Corolla and Matrix (2WD) vehicles equipped with the 1ZZ-FE engine.
Warranty Information
Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Federal Emissions Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

It should still be under warrenty Take it to the shop for repairs It is a transmisson problem but many things can cause the transmisson not to shift correctly. Call your service department and ask if you should drive it in or have it towed and do not drive till you have it figured out. If you have a warrenty and continue to drive it will void your warrenty.

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla and the check engine light has come on. It comes back at P2769, otherwise Failed Solenoid Valve. Is this hard and/or expensive to fix?
I looked up you code and your correct its your shift solenoid valve SL. And that code can be set by three different faults, so depending on whats causing that code to be set it can be expensive or not. The code can be set by a faulty valve, bad wiring, or the expensive part,sorry, it could be your Engine Control Module.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION Based on the signals from the Throttle Position Sensor, the Airflow Meter and the Crankshaft Position Sensor, the ECM sends a signal to the SL Solenoid Valve to regulate the hydraulic pressure and provide smoother gearshifts. The shift-solenoid valve SL responds to commands from the ECM. The valve controls the lock-up relay valve to perform the torque-converter lock-up function. If the ECM detects an open or short circuit for shift-solenoid SL, it will illuminate the MIL.

You have an issue that Toyota knows about; there is a programming problem with the ECM in the vehicle, and Toyota has released a Tech Service Bulletin (TC015-07) to cure your problem.
You probably have a DTC code of P-2716...The ECM needs replaced with an updated unit.
PLUS: this repair should be covered for 96 months of use, or up to 80,000 miles. The replacement ECU will be installed totally for free. Call your local Toyota dealer & get an appointment.
