Need to replace the hatchback!

A couple years ago I was rear ended and the hatchback and metal strip below it were slightly bent. The fender was also pushed in a bit. The hatchback still works, closes and everything, but I'm getting ready to put a body kit on it and want to replace the hatchback. I was going to go to a local 'U Wrench-it" and pull one off a salvage Honda. I'm just wondering if this is going to be a huge undertaking or if it's relatively easy.

Best I can tell, its just a few bolts and some wires that need to be disconnected, but not sure. Also, any tips on the removal of the rear bumper would be great.

Thanks, I was under it a few weeks ago and it looked like it might be a PIA to get off. Maybe I'll let a shop put the Body Kit on! LOL

Here is one, do you have ANY clue how to get that stupid metal stip just above the rear bumper but below the hatchback off?? I've been looking and I dont see how it comes off??!!! GRRRR I hope I dont have to take the rear fenders off to get to it! ><

You got the right idea.the hatch is easy. the bumpers are a pain only because the hardware rusts. use something like PB Blaster to help loosen them up. Good luck, and don't forget the rating.

I sure don't I have a 88 civic LX which is a 4door. I really wish we could post pics on this thing, then maybe I could help more.

in time the sections of the aerial become stiff or slightly bent from road gunk and the drive is a plastic strip so it will not take much to strip it. I believe that there are replacement strips available at your local auto parts store that you can install yourself.

Car shakes when pushing on gas pedal

Your vehicle needs to go back on a hoist and be checked over very carefully. Speaking from experience here, check for bent rims and /or broken belts in tires. Possible bent driveshafts on front wheel drive vehicles( you didn't say what you are driving) or single driveshaft on rear wheel drive. Also check the rear end for straightness, they can be bent exactly as you described the cause of your problems.

Also put the vehicle on an alignment machine. This will expose any furthur bent suspension parts, such as lower control arms.

15 years ago it cost me $1200 to fix a car after doing a similar thing, mine was an aluminun light pole, same speed. Hope this helps.

2004 Lincoln Town Car Rear passenger side wet carpet

I had the same problem in my Lincoln Town Car about a year or so ago. Here is what the problem was. There are a couple of air ducts at the back of your hood (top of firewall just below the base of your windshield wipers anchor points) These ducts are located one on the driver and one on the passenger side. Each of them has a little gate at the opening. The gates on my car were clogged with leaves and debris, thus causing water to flow over the ducts into the passenger compartment of the car. These ducts must be cleaned out so the water can flow through them and down to the ground instead of overflowing due to clogging.
