Battery might have died cause the altinator is not charging 14+V Please charge the battery, donot boost the dead battery. After charging the battery check the altinator output.
First of all, never boost or jump start a car if you can help it. You should always try to charge the battery instead. That is because if you do get a car started when it has a really bad battery, the odds are you will cook the alternator as it tries to recharge the dead battery.
The reason the battery went dead while stilling for 4 days, is because something stayed on. That is what you are hearing when you attached the good battery. You must find out what it is and turn it off, or you will keep losing batteries. Since nothing should be on and most things are not loud enough to hear, I suspect something powered through a relay, where the relay is sticking on. The 2 that come to mind first are the electric radiator fan, and the fuel pump. You should be able to pin it down by listening to the location of the sound.
I had the same problem for about five months, sometimes the car started for two months than all of a sudden it make take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to get it to turn over. Final analysis (when it finally would not start for two days) a new starter was needed. (2001 Cadillac STS)
