2006 Buick Rendezvous cxl broken rear hatch strap!

While shutting the rear hatch on my 2006 Buick Rendezvous, the strap that assists closing the hatch broke at the seam, causing me to loose my ballence, fall, and break my arm. This defect is dangerous and I would like to know if anyone else has encountered this problem.

The strap had broken 4 times in the first year of ownership. Everytime the dealer replaced the strap, but just to break again. On the fourth time I lost my ballence and fell. I feel this strap defect contributed to my accident, and should have been addressed after 3 failures. Hope that clears it up a bit. I am just trying to see if this has happend to anyone else, broken bones or not. Thanks

Mine has also broken. My husband is against getting it fixed at the moment so not sure if it will happen again or not.

Same problem on our 2005. I'm not going to bother getting a new one figuring it will break again. It's a heavy hatch and a cheap strap, which will easily break again.

never heard of such a defect, please be more careful, all machines carry an inherent risk of operation, this can be compounded by the operator not paying attention to what they are doing or there surroundings.

I accidentally closed the rear hatch on some sort of wire and now I can't get the hatch open again. I am unable to pull the piece of wire that it closed on out. How do I fix this? Thanks so much.!

Here's what you can try to open the hatch of your 2004 Buick Rendezvous:

Open the hatch and slip a screwdriver's shaft into the opening of the latch (simulating that the latch has engaged the metal bar on the floor of the SUV).

Apply pressure in the latch via the shaft of the screwdriver. While pulling against the latch, operate the unlock button of the fob or unlock with the key (whichever your truck has) .

If this doesn't work, you may want to consider taking your car to a professional mechanic or a Buick dealership for further assistance. But here is video on how to remove a window, if that servers any help. Door Window Removal And Installation Buick Rendezvous (youtube.com)

2006 buick rendezvous wont rear hatch wont lock

First try unlocking the rear hatch again. If you look closely at the latch. You should see what looks like a "U". Is the "U" open in the inside area? Do you see what might look like a hook that is blocking up the middle and preventing the striker from sliding into place. If you notice that the hook is blocking the hole and hitting the hatch release button didn't help. Either the bungee cord somehow aided in the latch getting damaged or the hook needs to be assisted and pulled back in the released position. To attempt this service. Get a helper, stick a philips head screwdriver through the hole of the hook and apply pressure towards the opening of the "U". While you are applying pressure ask your assistant to hit the open button for the hatch. If after the second try there is no positive result. More than likely the latch will need to be replaced. Good Luck.

Rear hatch will not open but only with the remote . I've had vehicle for 2 years and it was not like this until recently. What did I do and how do I change it back? 2006 Buick Rendezvous

THEIR IS A BAR THAT RUNS FROM THE HANDLE TO THE LOCK AND THEIR IS A PLASTIC CLIP ON EACH END THAT SECURES THE ROD TO THE HANDLE AND LOCK, OPEN THE DOOR AND TAKE OFF THE INSIDE PANEL AND YOU WILL SEE THE BAR. IF THE PLASTIC CLIP BRAKES IT WONT WORK MANUALLY THE CLIPS YOU CAN PURCHASE IN ANY PARTS STORE USUALLY IN THEIR HELP ISLE. THAY ARE LIKE 6.00 FOR A BOX THE ONLY WAY THE SELL THEM IS 15 TO A BOX

Groaning noise from rear of vehicle when turning cxl awd

Our Rendezvous groans, too. Our mechanic told us it was NOT a wheel bearing, but the rear differential. They recommended that we take it to a reputable transmission garage for service.

Back hatch door closed on strap of backpack-now can't open door

Try pressing down on the trunk /hatch and at the same time turn the key to try and open it. It might take a lot of downware pressure to finally get it to come open.
