Defroster/heater blower, stopped working/ dodge intrepid, 2004

It made noises before, would turn on and off, and it would work, but one day it just stopped blowing air?

Blower motor resistors are super common failures in these. The connector for it can also get melted.

The local car part stores keep them in stock and it's only 2 screws that hold in place under the passenger side of the dash, right next to the blower motor.Worst case, a local mechanic can repair reasonably inexpensively.

SOURCE: Heater doesn't blow hot air

First check the coolant level in the radiator. Check your heater core hoses on the firewall underneath the hood. Let the car come up to temp. and feel the two hoses. If only one of them is getting hot you may have bad heater core or a bad heater control valve.

I have a 96 Intrepid, and none of the signal lights work. I tried replacing the fuse, but this did not remedy the problem. Could this be a loose connection?

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge Intrepid heater problem

This sounds like your automatic climate control is starting to malfunction. Check to make sure your coolant is full, and temp is not fluctuating, and when your vehicle is warmed up, try using the low setting and feel for air temp. Is it warmer than if you turn it up? When at idle the vehicle is not producing heat the same as if you are driving, putting load on your engine and more air/fuel combustion means more heat, which is why you can feel heat while driving. Ideally you should feel heat as soon as the engine is warming up, getting hotter as it reaches peak temp of 190-210 degrees. You can try to make sure your water control valve is not blocked, and all electrical connections are secure. This will be located close to your firewall and connected to the coolant tubes that run into your firewall to your heater-core. Also use recirc (setting)to try to summon as much heat as possible, however ultimately, you may need to take you vehicle in for service. If it only warms when driving defrost will be an issue. Good luck.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your posting it help a lot and fixed the problem. I was happy that you not only were able to tell me one option to attempt but multiple ones if the first did not work. The directions were also very easy to understand for someone that is not mechanically inclined. Once again thank you for your time and answer."

My 99 dodge intrepid heater control stays blowing and wont light up and wont stop blowing unless i pull the fuse and nonew of the controls work

Are the different speeds working on the blower or is this stuck on just one speed ??? It seem as if the relay for the blower is fused together in the on position an can no longer be controlled by the switch. If this blower is not a relay controlled unit then most likely the blower switch is no longer working.

My defrost doesn'r work

Check the fuses if the blower is not blowing. If blower works could have low refrigerant. If fogy slime on inside of window check for bad heater core.

Had heater blower on, rear defrost on lowered window

You need to check the ground wires to you engine block and chassis as these are the only things that share common wireing.
