The most common causes of a VSC light are a faulty accelerator pedal, faulty throttle body, faulty ABS sensors, or a faulty mass airflow sensor. You need to get an OBD scan tool and tead the codes.
Replace your MAF, its a little pricey around $280.00 or so but this will clear the code but make sure you have the ECM reprogrammed to perform a "learning" sequence since sometimes the code will not clear even though the vehicle will run like new. This reprogramming will most likely have to be a dealer performed procedure.
you might have a restricted fuel filter or a weak fuel pump. does it stall while you are trying to accelerate? when it stalls, does it shut off as if you've turned it off with the key, or does it putter out?
We have the same problem we changed the fuel pump and it fix the problem for about a week, the van started puttering and didn't start until the 20th try. Now we are looking at the fuel filter. What a way to spend the 4th.
