2008 AWD Chevrolet Equinox acceleration problem

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox AWD. The vehicle hesitates and jerks when going uphill over 40mph and around 2000 rpm. If I get off the gas and re-accelerate, or if I hit the gas harder, it settles down.

Tried 2 tanks with STP fuel injector cleaner with no change.

Try putting some fuel injector cleaner in the gas

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2012

Already ran 2 tanks of gas with STP fuel injector cleaner and it didn't help.

then odds are that your filter is plugged or your fuel pump is getting week

ENGINE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION

LOSS OF ACCELERATION

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

There are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault lies: -------

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

Sorry Cleef, on dial up and lost the connection.
The reason it does this at higher speeds is that more ignition spark is needed to fire the spark plugs.
Yes, it's time for a tune up.
A shop that has a scanner can identify which cylinder is causing the misfire. It will have stored a code to do this.
I hope you find a good expert on chat. If not, message me back here and I will help you find your problem.
Again, my apologies for my poor connection.
