I've had this problem for a couple reasons. I've had the latch partway close somehow, and then when I closed the door it jammed it. I've also had it freeze when it's cold out and get stuck open. If it's won't close all the way, it's probably the first problem. Push the door button and take a screwdriver and pull the latch open.

If it's the other option, just park it in a garage and run a heater for a bit and it'll loosen itself. When it moves again spray it with wd40 and open and close it a few times.

2006 Lincoln zephyr driver side door wont latch shut

try pulling the door handle a time or two, perhaps the latching mechanism is stuck in the latched position. sometimes pulling the handle and moving the latch with a screwdriver is needed. if this doesn't work then try lifting up on the door while shutting it, if this works then you need new door hinge bushings or new door hinges

Front door latch jams and door wont shut

It sounds like the jaws are close. you need to pull on the door latch lever and hold it open use something round like a punch. not your finger. and open the jaws. if the door latch is not bad your door should close and latch normal.

Push door and it justs wont click shut moved swinging arm in door with screwdriver but wont lock

if it wont lock that means that its broken replace the whole latch. its easy just take the door panel off then take the linkages off the latch take out the two or three screws holding the latch on and pull it out. than reverce those steps when installing the new latch.

Rear door won't stay shut

Check the latch mechanism on the door. There is a piece of the latch that closes around the clasp on the door frame. sometimes this closes when the door is open and you can't shut the door. Take a screw driver and flip this latch piece open and close the door.

Door wont stay shut

The door latch could be closed, in other words, the door thinks it shut into the striker. Take and hold the door handle open, like your trying to open the door, hold the handle out or up and at the same time open the latch, it may be stuck or closed...If that's not it, you may have to re-align the latch to the striker, the striker will come loose with a torx bit. Loosen it up, and move it around and re tighten, it's a trial and error deal, just keep trying different positions until if works right...

When the door was last Opened the latch must have caught on something and went to the Closed Position. Get a Pair of Pliers and on the Door Where the Latch is Pull it Back Down or Up whichever way that it goes. All makes are Different with This.
