My BMW dashboard won't show mileage

this could be a set of wires going bad to the point where they can't transmit power any more. Please get a free diagnosis at your local autozone. They will use a small device to plug into your car's computer and retrieve a list of issues. Thank you.

You never know,but most of the time the reading on the odometer will stay with the dash you are installing,your old dash reading will not show on the new dash odometer.

How do I get the mileage to show on the dashboard of a BMW 745 LI

have battery tested if good fully charge,then check all relays and fuses.

it will automatically read the highest mileage of the two dashes

Dash board or gages

It means your car needs an oil change, based on mileage. If you take your car to get the oil changed, they can reset the light for you. If you want the light off now, try holding in the odometer reset button, with the key on but engine off, until little dashes appear then one by one dissapear. This procedure may need to be done either on the odometer total mileage or trip A mileage or trip B mileage.

Step 1: Have car off.

Step 2: Push and hold in trip reset button.

Step 3: While still holding button in, turn key to ON, but engine off. Wait for the little dashes to appear and disapear. If it doesn't work on the odometer setting. before turning key off, switch to Trip A setting. If the procedure doesn't work on the odometer setting or Trip A, try Trip B setting.

Step 4: Turn key off. Then start car. Maint. required light should be off.

If you are refrencing the grey LCD screen that shows teh mileage then it is designed to stay on. There is no backlight to the unit but it stays on to show the mileage at all times and is a minimal battery drain. If you are referencing overall DASH lights for speedometer, etc then you may have a short in the system

The odometer has to be pulled out. You dont mention what year it is, but double check your fuses to be sure.

Those bulbs may have just blown, or maybe a fuse is blown. But the odometer that is another thing, like maybe the cable but its not the neutral switch.
