SOURCE: 1985 bmw 535i

you need to take a look at the light sockets in the trunk area.there are NO wires going to the lights like most cars of the time.if you take a close look, you will see that the whole panel where the lights plug in IS the wiring complete with ground.you juat need to unplug each one and scratch all the corrosion off the fixed panel AND the flat prong like connections on the bulb sockets themselves.

every 5 series i have gotten into after being parked for awile had this problem.absolutely no rear lights.and yes, check out the fuse box,but it is most likely this or-

the brake pedal on these cars has a thin plate which the brake light switch/andclutch switch is bolted to.i have also seen in many cases the pedal travelbeing too excessive causing the thin plate to bend slightly causing it not to make contact with the switch, which also won't make the brake light warning lamp come on.but i bet you its those sockets in the trunk.cause if the hot side of one is grounding out-then none of them will work!good luck.

License plate light

The licence plate doesn't have a fuse, it comes on when you put your lights on, if you have your park lights on and the plate light isn't working then generally it's just a bulb, see what you can find, cheers good luck

License plate light and reverse lights dont work after checking lights and fuse

They are two different circuits. Do you have voltage at the neutral safety switch when in reverse ? Are the ground wires for the light sockets ok ?

License plate light out of order

Get your hands on a manual......(OEM or Hanes, etc) either online or from someone who owns the same car. It's the only way to find the correct fuse to see if that's the problem. You could start by checking the color code of the wires to the light........then look for the same color back at the panel.....but that's a pain.Good luck, buddy!

Where can I locate the fuse for my licence plate lights on my 2001 VW Beetle

No fuse. light bulbs have filaments which works like a fuse. When old and too hot they simply burn out. The license lamp works off the headlight switch. I would check the wiring first

My license plate lights dont work help?

the bulb is most likely burned out. there are a few types of license plate lights out there. some where you have to replace the whoel unit and some that have replaceable bulbs. both you can find at your local parts store.

Dome light/license plate light out

check the fuse panel and make sure you dont have a blown fuse. If one looks black replace it. Check your owners manual for fuse panel location and for specific fuse.
