I HAVE A 1991 GMC JIMMY 4.3 ENGINE I HAVE FOUND A FEW WIRES THAT HAVE LOW VOLTAGE ON THEM ONE IS THE ONE THAT GOES TO THE FUEL PUMP THE OTHER IS THE ONE THAT GOES TO THE MAP SENSOR THIS IS WITH THE INGNITION SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION, I TOOK LOOSE THE FUEL LINE FROM FUEL FILTER AND TURNED INGNITION SWITCH TO ON POSITION AND THE FUEL PUMP DID NOT PUMP ANY FUEL UNLESS I TUNED INGNITION SWICH TO CRANK POSITION THEN IT PUMPED FUEL.
Many wires on most autos will have low voltage around 5 volts is common for wires going to most sensors. What you described with the fuel pump sounds normal for this truck. I would guess the fuel pump is not your problem cant say for shore with out any more info. I am unclear as to what the symptoms are, is the truck not starting. What led you to check the fuel pump. Did you check for spark.
