Transmission fluid leak 94 mustang 3.6l v-6 coupe

I took my car in to have a tiny leak fixed. the mechanic said it was the gasket. He replaced it along with filter and fluid. i have taken the car back to his shop 5 times now. The leak is ten times worse. he swears they have changed the gasket and resealed the pan. Each time i get it home and it sits in the garage i notice the red fluid on the concrete.I took it back to the same shop, because the original change out of gasket filter is still warranted. Today I went to get the car and was told that they did everything they could do but it appears that the actual leak it coming from somewhere higher up on the transmission. He said with mirrors they could tell it was leaking from somewhere on the passenger front corner of the transmission and the fluid is accumulating on lip of passenger corner of transmission pan and that's why they kept changing out gasket pan. I was told to take it to specialist. What could be causing the leak. Before the initial repair the leak was about the size of quarter..now its about the size of paper plate. Please help me if you can. Thanks:]

hi from uk can understand the difficulty on finding leak but years ago i came across such a problem on an alloy engine block it eventually turned out to be a porouse casting on the side of block adjacent to oil feed to pressure switch this resulted in new block under warranty however can appreciate the mechs at garage being stumped as to leak but the problem may be same ? or a thin crack which opens when casing heats ? or even impact damage prior tou you owning car? you may pass on this possibility to garage? or check it yourself ? hope this helps

Trans. cooler lines are on this side and above the pan I would believe this would be a good place to look, assumeing pan is sealed.

I drive a 94 mustang and all of a sudden there is fluids leaking under my driver side dash and ideas???

If it is a standard transmission, suspect the clutch master cylinder to be leaking clutch fluid internally. This fluid is usually clear in color. If it is green, suspect coolant leaking, possibly from the heater core inside the car on the passenger side. If the fluid is red and the vehicle is equipped with a speedometer cable, suspect transmission fluid traveling up the cable and dripping.

I have transmission fluid leaking in the passenger compartment of my 94 escort. it has a manual 5 speed transmission. what would cause this

There is no way for transmission fluid to leak into the car. I think you have a coolant leak from a heater core. Have a shop look at the fluid to confrim this.

Transmission fluid leak

Has any one of the mechanics you visited explained to you where the leak was coming from? If not ask them again to be more specific. If the reply is from the sump gasket then it is good to go to the second one as he already said that. To renew the gasket you have to remove oil and the sump also you can carry on further by renewing the filter and cleaning the interior of the gearbox.

your pump may be going out if no other problems where found and is driving ok dont worry untill trans starts to act up .pump may be adding air to fluid so it leaks out overflow.

Hard shifting 2002 toyota corolla manual transmission

sounds like you were running it without oil..that would explain why there was no oil leaking on the ground..the gearbox would now be worn out so it's best to get another trans,, could be a rebuilt or from a scrapped crashed vehicle..if the trans was running out of oil, best not try to repair it..

Manual Transmission Filter?

The Borg Warner T-5 manual transmission has no filter. Assuming the leak is not really the rear main seal of the engine leaking, which is more likely, then it leaking from the front of the transmission. You will need to drop the transmission to get to the front seal on the first motion shaft. Unless you are really mechanically inclined or have a friend who is, leave it to a good shop.

Gasket replacement

in my opinion if the car is changing gears fine then just fix the gasket and seals when you can if its changing fine then they are trying to rip you off as renewing the seals and gasket will fix your leak and if its slipping gears it could last a day it could last a year so if its slipping yes its important to replace it
