1998 mercury cougar rx8 155000m Hi the few problems my car is having is when I first push in the pedal it has a hesitation and won't immedieatly accelerate. It'll finally **** and take off after about a .5 to a second after pushing in the pedal. The other problem is when I try to accelerate quickly it hits 3000rpms and just stops accelerating like it has a governor or something. Some advice would be greatly appreciated!!

& over half my work was taurus & caravans
The rest was japanese

I can not see that being the original transaxle from
1995, but I wouldn't hold out hope of any type of
simple fix

There are non to my recall ,other than a cable on
the throttle body & I don't even know if they still exist

Does your car seem to be down in power compared to what you would consider normal? If yes, I would get the MAF checked, and probably cleaned. New one is like 400 bucks, but they are easy to clean, and then act just like new again. You just have to be careful and gentle, cause if you should happen to break one of the sensor wires, its done. Otherwise, it sounds like its in the master computer, but isn't too serious a thing. Financially wise. When you release the accelerator, does it react immediately, or do you have to depress a few times before it seems to respond? Good luck.
