Electronic throttle control light flashing

Electronic throttle control light came on .where is this located on the engine

Depends on the vehicle & make

Could be the gas pedal (APP) if you go to a wiring diagram

General Description could be the throttle body

There is no guessing here

You need to check for codes & have trouble charts
to follow to resolve any problems

You can not fix yourself,a dealer or repair shop will be needed

SOURCE: 05 grand cherokee with hemi won;t start.

Does it turn over? If not, try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. This has worked for my Jeep before.

SOURCE: electronic throttle control, cruise control

You need to have the codes read. The electronic throttle relies on an APP sensor and a TPS sensor. A problem with either one of these will cause this. Also, the cruise would be affected by this, as there is no cruise servo, it's controlled be the electronic throttle body.

SOURCE: Electronic Throttle control light came on and car died

We ended up taking the vehicle to a trusted auto repair shop. The codes came up indicating a failed throttle body, most likely in the electronics. After a few more pinpoint tests, the recommendation was to replace the throttle body. The cost for this repair was just under $500. Since there is no aftermarket on this part, Genuine Ford parts were used.

SOURCE: Electronic Throttle Control light

I took my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi to a mechanic that works from a garage at his home, recommended by a friend of mine. He removed and cleaned the throttle body and sensor(s?), then reinstalled them, and then disconnected both battery cables and held them together for 2 minutes so that the engine controller could reboot with the factory default settings, then reconnected them. I had bought a can of throttle body cleaner on my way over to his house for about $3.00. He charged me $40.00 for the job. This was done mid-February, about 10 weeks and 2500 miles ago. So far, the problem Has Not happened again, the truck has been running great!

SOURCE: My 2003 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi has the engine

I had the same problem with my, 03, hemi. I did not wait 15 min. turn off and back on was all that was needed to reset, "red flashing light lower right hand ". though another 8 or 9 on off's, Engin Light also goes off, untill next time. All i did was pulled off my Air Intake box and hose, so i could get to butterfly on throttle bodie, sprayed carb cleaner in there. and it was very dirty. after put back togather, give it a few.... mine did not start right up, when it did idle real ruff even died few times...Once the computer re adjusted ran like it did when i bought it....that was 2 weeks ago, still no eng light, no flashing red ones either.

Flash computer 2010 chevy equinox Abs, traction control, ck engine lights all come on. Vehicle goes into "safe" mode Drives at about 5 mph until I turn off & restart after 5 mins

Probably caused by the electronic throttle control . How many miles on the vehicle ? The gas pedal has position sensors that the PCM - engine computer uses to know how much to open the throttle plate .
Drive by Wire Function and diagnostics by Wells
What engine ?
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system is used to improve emissions, fuel economy, and driveability. The TAC system eliminates the mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. The TAC system eliminates the need for a cruise control module and idle air control motor. The following is a list of TAC system components:
• The accelerator pedal assembly includes the following components:
- The accelerator pedal
- The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 1
- The APP sensor 2
• The throttle body assembly includes the following components:
- The throttle position (TP) sensor 1
- The TP sensor 2
- The throttle actuator motor
- The throttle plate
• The engine control module (ECM)

I have a 2004 dodge durango and the lighting volt stable is on my dash

It has to do with the Electronic Throttle Control. ( as per the owners manual)

12. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Light 5.7L
Engines Only
This light informs you of a problem with the
Electronic Throttle Control system. If a problem
is detected the light will come on while the
engine is running. If the light remains lit with
the engine running your vehicle will usually be drivable,
however, see your dealer for service as soon as possible.
If the light is flashing when the engine is running,
immediate service is required and you may experience
reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle or engine
stall and your vehicle may require towing. The light will
come on when the ignition is first turned on and remain
on briefly as a bulb check. If the light does not come on
during starting, have the system checked by an authorized
dealer.

I just got my alternator fixed then i started having the ESC serv ice light come on, and the trac symbol comes up and the engine light flashes. and the power is reduced and it jerks when driving

its possible that the incorrect voltage regulator was fitted to the alternator during the repair. A low voltage or irregular voltage from the alternator can cause havoc with vehicle electronics

Car loses power n jerks while driving, it's a Ford Explorer 2003, why?

First of all is the check engine light on an flashing ? An what engine does it have 4.6 or 4.0 L ? It sounds to me like a misfire , plugs ,plug wires , ignition coil , plugged fuel injector . That guy's info is wrong , your vehicle doesn't have electronic throttle control ,there for no throttle potentiometer. its a box above the acc pedal which sends a signal to the ecu. Yours does have a TPS - throttle position sensor located on the throttle body under the hood in the engine compartment ! But this is not the cause of your problem !

WHAT MEANS WHEN "ETC POWER"IS ON?

seems something wrong with the Electronic throttle control (ETC) which is an automobile technology that electronically "connects" the accelerator pedal to the throttle, replacing a mechanical linkage
There is no mechanical linkage between the accelerator pedal and the throttle valve with electronic throttle control. Instead, the position of the throttle valve (i.e., the amount of air in the engine) is fully controlled by the ETC software via the electric motor.
- you better have the ETC immediately serviced by an approved Toyota-shop

How often can a electronic throttle control malfunction

Well, how often would you like it to malfunction? If you say NEVER, it will explode today! (or at least, that would be MY luck...LOL!)

What your ECT needs is to be PROPERLY DIAGNOSED. There are several things that can cause the hesitation and the light to come on, including faults located in the accelerator pedal position sensors, the throttle position sensors, the Powertrain Control Module, or any of the wiring between them.

There is no "cleaning" to be done. Attempts to "clean" an electronic throttle control unit can totally destroy the unit. This is NOT like the old throttle bodies that could be cleaned out by holding the throttle plate open and dousing it with carb cleaner. To begin with, forcing the throttle plate open by hand can break the gears in the throttle control. Then if you do manage to get it open, the carb cleaner can destroy the electronics.

With all that said, there are a couple of Technical Service Bulletins on your Jeep that involve the ECT light coming on and poor drivability symptoms. At least one of them involves reprogramming of the engine control computer.

It should also be noted here that many of the major components of your engine control system are covered under the federally-mandated 8-Year/ 80,000 mile emissions warranty. Reprogramming of the computer is definitely covered under this provision.

The electronic throttle control light is flashing in my 2004 1500 5.7 Hemi truck, won't accelerate but does turn on, where should i start?

The 1st thing that MUST be done is to have the electronic engine control system computer (called the "PCM") scanned for fault codes, this gives you the starting point for diagnosis od why the warning/fault light is on. You can get the scan for fault codes done for free at any Autozone or similar discount auto parts store in your area. Aamco Transmission does the scan for free as well.

I just replaced the battery & had it arc. The check engine light is on. the gas pedal has no effect. But it will move forward in idle.

check your Electronic throttle control unit and its electrical supply. the Electronic throttle control is located on the LH of the throttle body. Check all fuses and relays for shorts, there may be no power to the Electronic throttle control, which results in NO throttle movement. Hopefully this helps
