from what I can remember you just open the trunk remove access panel ( some cases it is the trunk linner assembly) and remove retaining srew/nuts and remove tail light assembly, lenses are serviced as assembly
You can't remove the lens cover. The tail lights are molded as one piece. If you want to change the bulbs, there should be an access panel inside the truck box right behind the tail lights that gives you access to the bulbs. There are also screws to remove the entire tail light assembly if it needs replacing.
Hi,
Just open the trunk lid and snap the plastic cover at the back of your tail light assembly and the bulb socket assembly will come off. Push and twist the bulb to be replace. Same reverse way when putting it back.
Hope that helps you out.
Tail light replacement is not as hard as it seems. Tools needed:flat head screwdriver and a deep 5/32 socket(a pair of pliers will work). Step 1: open trunk and pull back truck liner at tail light. There is a small button clip on liner.Use screwdriver to pop up the center of button clip, pull clip out of hole. Step 2:You will see a black wire attached to the body of car with 2 white clips.Use screwdriver to pop clips off of studs. Step 3:Remove the nuts from the studs and pull tail light assembly straight back away from car.The outer side of the light just snaps in and out of place. Step 4:Turn light socket counter clockwise 1/3 turn and pull out. Step 5:Pull bad bulb straight out and replace.Reverse steps to reassemble.
the actual tail lamp lens of the light bulb inside the lens?
for the actual light bulb, open the trunk at the back of the lens there will be a grey circle connector, 1 is the turn light, 1 is the tail light, simply rotate that connector opposite of the position that says "lock" written on the circle connector, that pulls out and then you can turn the bulb and replace that.
for the actual lens, you will need a 8mm socket and possibly a pry bar or a hammer. there are 3 8 mm bolts at the back of each lens, find them, they should be at each corner of the light, take those out, unclip the bulb harnesses mentioned above, unclip any connectors, should be 1 white one, then hammer the ends of the bolts you removed, this loosens the seal around the tail light. simply pull the tail light straight out, if it wont come out varify you removed all bolts and connestions then proceed to use the pry bar or the end of a hammer to pull the light out which will pull out towards the outside of the car not into the trunk. takes about 15 mins to do very easy.
Open the trunk and locate the trim door that covers the back of the drivers side tail light assembly. Open the door and locate the bulb holder. The bulb holder can be removed from the tail light assembly housing by turning counter clockwise 1/4 turn. Holding the bulb holder in one hand, press gently on the bulb and turn then bulb counter clockwise to remove. Replace with a combo bulb and reverse proceedure to re-install.
thode screws hold the lens or the light assembly? Allow for the whole tail light to come out and the bulb plug will be accessible. I never had the privilage. But how the lens fits will tell you. If the lens goes overthe edges, the whole unit comes out, lens is sealed. Good luck
thanks for your help!
