Worried the mechanic overfilled the oil.

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 truck (5.3) & took it for an oil change. They told me it took 6 qts of oil, and now the dipstick looks like it's past the full line. Does it take 5 or 6 qts?

It is a v6. and I do check it while the engine is hot, or I let it run for about 10 minutes and then check it

How much oil does it take?

5 quarts if you change the oil and filter. This should get it into the hash marks on the dipstick if not completely to the top of the marks.

2003 GMC Sierra Knock sensor and oil pressure??

the knock sensors are located below the intake plenum,or,upper intake manifold as some call it, they screw into the lower intake, the front one is sensor 1, the rear is sensor 2. it is wise to change both if you have some miles.since you are going to be buying a gasket set to do this job.the sensors are cheaper than the gaskets.
