Customer's radio will attempt to eject tape even with no tape in place. Attempted swapping radio got one now with no display. Got a second radio and this one will not accept cassette. Is it possible to take cassette portion out of the no disply radio and re-install in the one that wil not accept cassette? Please let me know.
What we did was take another radio that had no display but the casette worked so we swapped face plates and installed the radio. We had the luxury of having more than one unit. Thanks anyway.

Certainly check the manual but it is possible either too many incorrect attempts have been made to enter the right code or too many attempts have been made to enter the wrong code. It is usual whenever a wrong code, etc. has been attempted the waiting time will be extended before another attempt can be made.

Most vehicles are equipped with Heidelberg V or VI radios that are equipped with a theft protection program. When the battery has been is disconnected or if the radio has been removed, the radio will lock-up electronically and cannot be operated until the security code is entered. On the Heidelberg V, if the proper code is not entered in six attempts, the radio will lock-up permanently and cannot be repaired. On the Heidelberg VI, two incorrect attempts will lock the radio for about 1 hour.
The Heidelberg V may have a code assigned at the factory or a personal code created by the owner. The Hiedelberg VI has a code assigned at the factory and entered by the dealer during pre-delivery inspection. New radios come with the code printed on a sticker but not entered into memory. All codes are 4 digits. To code the radio: Heidelberg V
Turn the radio ON . The radio should display the word SAF. DO NOT attempt to eject a cassette with the radio in this mode.
Push the AM/FM and SCAN buttons at the same time and hold them until the display changes, then release them immediately. The number 1000 will appear for about 3 seconds, then the display will go blank. Release the buttons then.
NOTE
If the buttons are held too long, the radio will interpret this as an attempt to enter an incorrect code.
Use the first four station selector buttons to enter the code. The first digit of the code is always 1. Each time the other buttons are pushed, the number in that position will change.
When the code appears correctly in the display, push the AM/FM and SCAN buttons at the same time. When the radio plays and displays a frequency, release the buttons.
If the code was entered incorrectly three times, momentarily disconnect the battery and try again. If the code is entered incorrectly three more times, the radio cannot be coded and cannot be repaired.

The only thing you can do is pull the radio and have it repaired, cost is about $150-$250 USD Many website's offer the service and instructions on removing the radio for free. Below are some of the websites
The Liftgates between the two models will not interchange, small changes made to the rear bumpers and body lines make it impossible for the switch to happen, even if you attempted to swap bumpers (not recomended) the body lines won't line up and you will have a larger headache than I assume you have already.
Try resetting the radio, turn the radio off and disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Make sure the RADIO IS OFF OR YOUR GOING TO BE ASKED TO ENTER THE RADIO CODE TO HAVE THE RADIO ACTIVE AGAIN. After the battery has be reconnected, turn on the radio and reset your clock and stations. Your CD plays should be working again too. Good luck and hope this helps.
there are only couple options. pull radio and send to shop for repair, purchase used radio from good junk yard. or call dealer and see if there is a warranty on it. even though its 6 yrs old they may help. what they do at the dealer is an exchange
CODE ENTRY: The proper five digit code for the radio is listed on the two cards supplied in the radio security envelope. After installation or when the radio requires reprogramming the word "code" will appear on the display screen. Enter the code by using the preset buttons numbered 1 through 5 . If a "beep" sound occurs when the code is initially entered, it is then necessary to re-enter the code starting with the first digit. The "beep" sound was provided to indicate the starting point for code entry. If the code has not been properly entered after three successive attempts , the radio will then not accept any entry until the radio has been left "ON" for one hour (vehicle ignition must be "ON"). After one hour in the "ON" position, the radio will then accept three additional entry attempts. Also, if a push-button is touched accidentally when the ignition is "OFF", a warning tone will sound. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position and the warning tone will stop.
Radio security codes will not be given to anyone under any circumstance other than authorized jaguar dealer personnel after proof of vehicle ownership and proper identification has been established. A separate security envelope with the attached instruction is provided in each radio package. If the radio has been port installed, the security package will be placed in the vehicle glove box. NOTE: When the car arrives at the dealership, the radio will be in the inoperative mode even though it has already been installed. It is imperative that no attempts be made to install a tape cassette while the radio is in this mode. The cassette will not eject and damage may occur when removal is attempted.
