SOURCE: how to tow a 2003 5.7 liter dodge durango

i am glad you asked
thats i the problem with the electronic select FWD system
when towing a FWD you should put both selectors in neutral this frees the transfer case and the drive shafts
how ever with the electronic system i dont know if it stays in neutral when the car is disconnected from the battery.
so you can make some tryles

  1. put the car in neutral in both selectors "gear and FWD" while the car is running when all the warning bell and stuff have gone off turn off the car
  2. now see if the car can be pushed or towed while the battery is connected
  3. now disconnect the battery and follow step 2
  4. if this works then all is well
i know when towing a FWD car u do need to put the transfer case in neutral to prevent damage
if you have the owners manual check under towing
if you don't, contact your local dealer and see what they say
hope this helps

SOURCE: ignition lock -98 dodge neon

Sounds like the ignition cylinder is jambed, if you remove the covers and put the key in, you might be able to turn it with pliers, just turn it to the accessories position, then there is a small metal clip that pushes in, push it in and pull the lock cylinder out of place, get a new one from the dealer and reverse to install. If it's above you, your dealer can help, usually about an hours labour or so.
Hope that helps, Good luck

SOURCE: problem with starting my 2003 dodge ram

My father has the same problem with his 2001 Chrysler Sebring, the key will go into the ignition switch but wont turn. Called the dealer and seems the tumblers inside the ignition have gotten stuck, the solution... put the key in the ignition and tap it gently with a hammer (plastic tip if you have it) and it worked fine. Not sure what the guys at Autozone are pull but on a Ram 5.7 Hemi there are individual coils, not one, I should know I also have a 2003 Ram 1500 and have changed the plugs (not fun)... I have a code scanner (Hypertec) and when I've gotten a check engine light I check it with the scanner. Turned out mine had a problem with the air sensor in the intake. $15 part fixed the problems. Good Luck.

SOURCE: bad oil leak 98 dodge neon it looks like from

There is an opening on the top of your timing cover sealed off with a rubber plug. Remove the plug to gain sightful access to inside your timing. But first I suggest you clean your engine first ot all grease and build up caused by your leak. In diong so, you will have a clearer idea of where the leak is actually coming from. I just rebuilt a 2000 neon, so if you need some info on anything , I have your info.

Driving home, 2003 Dodge neon starts to slow down, oil light has come on intermittedenly before, engine started to lose power, brakes locked up, and steering wheel locked up. Car had to be towed. Thanks.

lets hope its not a bad motor from lack of oil pressure, the loss of brakes and steering is due to the engine stopped running this is normal, but hte oil light coming on with the engine running is not good, you will need to see if the engine spins and trys to start, this will tell you a little bit, if it spins then it didnt lock up, and maybe its a fuelpump or timing belt that let go, you will have to do some testing ,check for fuel pressure and spark at the plugs,

Blue smoke from tail pipe 98 neon no leaks i can see

It sounds like you could need some new piston rings. when they go bad it causes oil to get by into the combustion chamber and burn when the engine fires.

I have a dodge neon 1995 it recently stalled a few times while I was driving and now when I started it it was smoking out of the steering wheel

Check all your fuses on the left of your dash, just check them. You can pop your dash out and check for burnt wires. Im thinking you just blew a fuse. If you can give me more info then what you posted, I can help you out a little bit more. Ive had 3 neons now and ive had plenty of problems with them all.

The 1995-1999 Neons are notorious for having faulty head gaskets. This sounds like what you're experiencing. There is coolant leaking internally somewhere, and burning in the engine.

By any chance, is the smoke coming from the back or side of the driver's side of the engine? This seems to be the trouble spot.

If you've been driving with a bad head gasket seal for a while, there's a chance you could have warped or even cracked the head. I would recommend taking it in because this is a pretty major repair... unless you feel like taking the engine apart yourself.
