SOURCE: location of inertia switch/fuel pump

Yes it can. It doesn't take much like slamming a door or dropping a load of parts. There is only a magnetic ball inside the contacts and it is a wonder that Railroad tracks and Potholes do not trigger more shutoffs. All you do is find the switch and hold down the button on it for about 3 seconds.

Then try starting the van without slamming the doors shut until it is running. If the Inertia switch does not help check the fuse panel, then the relay. The relay should either be in the Black powerbox group or in with the fuseholders.

SOURCE: does the fuel inertia switch

Since this trips to prevent fuel from pumping in a collision, it is made to be manually reset. The device on a son's Ford used to trip occasionally on our rough easement. On his car it was located behind a panel in the trunk.

How do i reset my 1999 mustang fuel pump?

Reset your fuel pump? If you mean the inertia switch, all you have to do is push the button on the inertia switch to reset it. It is located in the lower left rear corner of the trunk.

Please note that if your fuel pump is not working, it is NOT the inertia switch unless you have been involved in an accident, or slammed something (like a curb or a HUGE pothole) pretty hard recently. If this is what happened, the engine would have died IMMEDIATELY after such an accident.

I have no fuel pressure to the pressure test valve on the fuel rail. I am thinking it is the fuel pump but perhaps I am wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There is a safety cutoff switch called an Inertia switch. It can be located in the trunk area or behind one of the front kick panels. This switch can sometimes trip when a door or trunklid is closed. There is a reset button on it and you just push and hold the button for a second or two and it is reset.

When you turn your key to the Run position you should hear the fuel pump run briefly to pressure up the system. It will only run a few seconds as that is all it needs for the pressure. There is also a Relay in one of the Black boxes and one is for the fuel pump. This Relay also needs the Inertia switch to work before the power gets to the pump. Finally you may find a fuse for the pump in the fuseblock under the dash. Your Owners Manual should describe each location.,
