Sound like vacuum leak check replace all old vacuum hoses replace pcv make sure its getting vacuum.make sure spark plugs and wires been replaced.replace fuel filter and air filter clean fuel injectors.code scan for faulty idle air control valve.but do a little tune up see if that helps.most time if i have problems with vechicle i do a tune up make sure engine getting good airflow.plenty of fuel and good spark.i will do a three stage trouble shooting before i find something major wrong with engine.

On my 2007 C6 Corvette I shut it off and I can still hear a little motor sound turns on and off about every two minutes

Are the keys nearby? Corvettes computer continues to run if keyfob is within 20 feet. This leads to dead battery syndrome. The computer is designed to run for a couple minutes until your key fob is out of sitance then the car shuts down.

My corvette will run but will shut off and then you can crank it back up but will shut back down

Check the fuel rail pressure regulator if it's fuel injected. If there is gas in the vacuum line it's shot

How can i get it to shift to neutral

You need to post what make of vehicle this is and whether it is an Automatic or stick shift.

In general, the brake pedal must be pressed for an Automatic to be shifted away from Park. In most stick shifts, the neutral is available after pressing in on the clutch.

For Automatics requiring the pressing of the brake pedal, an interlock switch is on the brake pedal lever under the dash. The switch can be knocked out of place by feet or even broken by the drivers feet striking it.

The idea is for the gearshift and brake pedal to be "interlocked" so the brakes are applied before the gearshift can be moved. This requires the shift linkage to be adjusted or "timed" to line up for the electric signal produced by the brake pedal switch. There is also a similar system to prevent the starter from working when the gears are not in Park or neutral.

In the case of a car like a Corvette, you would push down on the stick shift before the trans will engage neutral. This was made so you would not be able to over rev the engine by missing a gear.

I hope that one of my solutions works for your unknown vehicle.

My 1986 Corvette RPM is too high when engine first comes on but over time it settles. Sometimes when I place it in park it rockets back up. What can I do?

Your gas/ air intake is off. you are getting to much gas. Try not pushing gas pedal at start up, you could be flooded it, also do not do gas shut down, leaving gas in the lines.

Idle is high unless I tap the gas pedal

To me this sounds like the return spring on the carby has lost its strengh or your carburator needs a good clean as the throtle linkages could be dirty. I hope this helps.

The car is running poorly and missing when hitting the gas pedal

Give it a good tune up. Change the cap and rotor, plugs. Make sure that the plug wires are in good shape and not broken from heat.

1999 chev corvette

No nothing like that, but there is a feature that will no allow you to get out of park unless the brake pedal is pushed and the brake lights are working, check the brake light circuit.
