Display/image of vw bora v5 bonnet

The hood release is a red lever under the dashboard about shin height. I found the image on a Haynes online manual -
Opening the bonnet Mercedes Benz Class 2008 2011 Petrol B180 1 7

sounds like the boot lock motor. this happened to my 2000 bora also. a new motor from vw dealer cost me €24.

On the lever that brike,you should be able to grab ahold of the wire cable with visegrips or pliers.Pull on it and your "Bonnet" or Hood should pop open.Hope this helps.

push down the bonnet and then pull the lever.or sit on it otherwise you can with a screwdriver trhoug the vw mark and try to reach the mechanisme goodluck

They are not designed to open from the outside. Why can't you get inside?

first of all not an easy job,you need to get the front grill off and look upwards for a cover that will be covering up the bonnet catch,basicly bend or pull this off,you should then see were the cable goes in,then you should be able to bar the catch with a screwdriver to release it. best of luck

Under vw logo there is a special hole, just put a hook inside and there you go!

If you pop your Vw emblem out of its hole, right behind it there's a thin notch cut into the support for the hood latch. If you look inside there with a flashlight you should be able to make out the shiny silver ball that's the end of the cable. Now stick a small flat head screwdriver against it and push to your right. Sometimes it may help to push down a little on the hood just above the mechanism, as you no longer have the mechanical advantage of the lever. Good luck hope this helps.
