I would like to know the exact location of the Knock Sensor on a 1994 Lexus ES300.
I do not recommend to do the knock sensor on V6 engines yourself , if you don't have mechanical skills. You will end up towing car to mechanic shop , it's not that easy as the guy saying here.
He might be right about wiring , yes maybe knock sensor is not bad , but once you there it's worth to repl. both knock sensor and wire harness which is $50.00 from dealer.I know knock sensors are expensive ~ $170.00 a piece , but sometimes testing sensor manually when it's exposed can mislead you if problem intermittent.
Good luck to all of you.
READ THIS FROM A OWNERS FORUM BEFORE YOU DO THE SENSOR, THEY ARE OVER $100 FOR THE SENSOR, $3-400 TO REPLACE IT.
1 That's SK's way of telling you should search first. Knock sensors are covered on every Toyota/Lexus v6 forum to death.
2) 1mz-fe's (ENGINE TYPES) are notorious for having over sensitive knock sensors. You should run your tank of gas low (18.5 gallon tank), refill with high octane fuel & reset the ECU (Pull the EFI fuse a second & replace)
3) 90% of the time the wiring is damaged - the knock sensor is fine. A knock sensor is nothing more than a piezo in a metal housing. Nothing to break less a mechanic does it during repairs, or the sensor shorts out (that falls under bad wiring).
4) It's a two piece intake manifold, some wires, some hoses, some cables, a fuel rail. Not engineering a new insulation foam for the space shuttle that the EPA says is "environmentally friendly".
You need a normal set of tools:
Normal & deep well metric sockets. Specifically 10, 12, 14 mm with extensions
Lexus provides cheap chrome coated wrenches 8/10, 14/16 mm in your tool pouch
If you're smart; you'll get a brush & some type of strong cleaning agent, and clean the entire upper intake air chamber (the actual name for the upper intake), including everything connected to it. (Throttlebody, ISC & EGR valves)
Have some RTV silicon on hand incase you break a paper gasket.

Do you have to remove the Intake Manifold to access the knock sensor or is it visible and easy to replace.
I am still wondering if the Knock Sensors are bad since the car is idling around 500 rpms and the Code Reader (Check Engine Light is ON) states a P0325 and P0330 error. The car is loping and I was thinking if the Head Gasket is blown, I should get White Smoke or the Oil Dipstick would look milky looking. The car does not smoke at all, no leaks and it might burn 1/8 quart of oil between 3K - 5K mile oil change (214,000 miles on vehicle). Now I have to replace a busted radiator since it was overheating. By the way the loping occurred first followed by the Check Engine Light then finally the radiator busted. No the car is not mine anymore I gave it to my daughter (LOL) 1 1/2 years ago (yes we all know proper maintenance was not performed).
check the engine block water jacket down low.
