First thing to check is engine /transmission mounts. A fails mount would let the engine rock in the engine compartment and would be able to feel as a jerk under accel and braking. Also check for play or wear in the CV joints on the drive axles.
If you means you press the gas, then for a second it doesnt move, then it jerks into movement, you need to get your transmission checked. If its not that, It could be electrical or you are just pressing on the gas pedal too hard when you go from a stop. If you are say, going 30 and accelerate up to 40, and somewhere in between like say 35, it jerks, you have a SERIOUS transmission problem. Take it to a mechanic and expect to pay $$$$.

Regarding the heating issue, sounds like your thermostat is stuck open so the coolant isn't heating up. (May need replacement) Does your engine temp guage show it running colder than normal?
