This allows a small amount of coolant to circulate through the engine while the coolant in the engine heats up. Once the thermostat opens at operating temp most of the coolant flows through there.

I have just fitted a new thermostat on my 2000 2.5 turbo diesel and the bottom radiator hose dose not get warm .

You may have an air pocket. Not all systems burp on their own. If there was no air bleed (usually near the thermostat housing) then maybe pull a heater hose off (something high up) and fill from there if needed.

How do u put the thermoatat in and wish way dose it face

Follow your upper radiator hose to the top of your motor. This is the thermostat housing. You might have to drain some coolant from your radiator first. Remove the bolts from the thermostat housing and lift off. Your thermostat is located under this. The spring side of the thermostat should be in the motor. Remember to replace the rubber seal around the thermostat. Replace the housing and tighten the bolts. Refill the cooling system and start vehicle and check for leaks.

It runs warm all the time pass the halfway mark

you need to replace your thermostat. to do that you need to follow your radiator hose until you reach the thermostat housing, take the hose clamp off and remove the hose. there may be some corrosion so just twist the host back and forth a few times before removing it then remove the thermostat housing wich will be connected with 4 bolts. then remove the thermostat and replace it. good luck

No heat. engine dose not over heat

Make sure that the water level is up, then if that is ok, take the radiator cap off when cold, squeeze the hose going into the thermostat. If water moves freely back and forth upon squeezing the inlet and the outlet hose, change the thermostat.

Seized thermostat

Not always. If you have a KA24E (2.4L 4 cyl) engine, the thermostat is located where the lower hose connects to the engine. I have had to change mine. It's easiest to get to if you remove the power steering pump and set it to the side. The thermostat housing is directly below where the PS pump mounts.
