Try turning the key to the on position (do not start) for about 10 minutes or so! This should reset the security which is probably cutting off the fuel circuit! I know GM had many ignition problems with this!

Are you sure its the starter? did you try it in neutral? could be park neutral switch, or ignition switch, or if its a standard shift maybe it has a switch on clutch that it has to be depressed to start and its bad. As far as jump starting you cross the maine or big post on starter to small or little post on starter to do that, on a v6 starter it on the right side under exhaust manafold, and i think its on the same side on a 4 cyl.

SOURCE: i have a 99 s10

It says that you can hear the starter solenoid click on the starter and also says that it does not click. The way to test is to take a test light and see if the solenoid is getting power. If it clicks, even though it is new. It is the problem. If it is getting power and clicks the clicking is suppose to do the exact same thing as jumping it with a screwdriver. The solenoid engages and this is what supplies the starter power. When it is clicking it is not closing the circuit and supplying the starter with power. If you would like to call me or me call you. Email me. [email protected] It is a lot easier to talk to someone on the phone than try to type back and forth. I don't want to post my number on here but I will email it to you or you can email me yours. Thanks!

I have a 2000 Saturn that won't start. NEVER had a problem before. Turned it off and it hasn't started since. No turnover, no click, nothing.

Could be your key ignition switch. It helps to complete the circuit... but do you hear a clicking when you the the key. If you just hear a clicking noise, It is your starter if you hear nothing it could possiblely be the ignition switch. My riding lawn mower did the same thing. It turned out taking a can of air and cleaning out the key hole worked but it sounds like the ignition switch could be bad.

98 chevy lumina wont start replaced starter and VATS relay only get click no crank what next?

Hey Todd how's it going ? How's the battery ? battery connections ? Are there any lights lit on the dash , security , check engine ? Because your getting a clicking there is nothing wrong with the theft deterrent relay ! Take a volt meter on the 20 volt scale an put negative lead at the negative battery post , then take your positive lead an put it on s terminal small wire on the starter solenoid an have someone turn the key to start position , you should see battery voltage . If you see battery voltage there is nothing wrong with the theft deterrent relay ! or the crank circuit. You need to do a voltage drop test on the starting system ! I'm thinking possible battery cable ! Starter Voltage Drop . you do know that you replaced a starter for no good reason !

My 2006 buick lacrosse wont start radio and lights work but its not saying nothing when i try to crank it

Hello! Do you hear a click when the key is turned?...If no click is heard either the ignition key, the Crank relay, the starter, or the battery are suspect...Having lights and radio does not mean the battery is capable of running a starter motor......Put a meter on the battery...should read 12.5 volts...Turn key...Does voltage drop to 8 or 9 volts? Bad battery...If all is well with battery and connections to it...Check the starter fuse # 33 in the under hood fuse/relay box...If the fuse is good that click you should hear is from the Crank Relay in that box...If all of the above is OK connect your meter to the Purple wire that is connected to the starter motor...When the key is turned 12 volts must be on that wire...If there is the starter motor is defective...So, #1...Do you hear a click when key is turned...That would point at a bad starter or weak battery...#2...If you do not hear a click bad fuse #33, bad Crank Relay, bad ignition switch...#3...If fuse is good Bad Crank Relay or Ignition switch; Crank Relay is a low cost item ($10)...Replace Relay...Stop there and send a comment as to results...Guru...saailer

Check your ignition switch (located on the steering column under the dash) If this is working, you will hear an electronic switch click when you turn the key on - if you do hear it then replace your starter

'98 Saturn SL1 won't start. Alarm system behaving strangely. Have power, turn key-nothing. Then it will start for no reason. Drove it home (20 miles), shut it off and it won't start again. Changed battery...

I had this same exact problem in a family member's Saturn. If you are opening the door with the key and not using the key FOB to unlock the doors, then the security system will not allow you to start the car. You will notice when this happens that the dome light will blink and you'll hear the relay in the BCM clicking.

In order to stop the security system from doing this: Make sure the car is locked with the key fob by hitting the lock button. Then hit the unlock button on the key fob once and then once again (I do it out of habit). Then open the driver side door, put the key in and it should start no problem.

2006 Jeep Wrangler won't start

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

Jeep wount start

When you turn the key on all the lights come on normally? and when you try to start you lose the lights and hear a click? If so the battery cables are loose, or broken. If thats not the case it could be a relay or stuck starter or switch. You can try a screwdriver at the starter hit the little wire and the big wire it will spark and should turn the engine over "MAKE SURE IT IS IN PARK WITH THE BRAKE SET" do this last, if you do all that and it turns over you can say the starter and cables are good. Next replace relay and try, still nothing get a new switch. Hope this helps.
