    this is the part

That is a band actuating piece. This works in conjunction with your hydraulic pressure and your valve body to regulate the band. The band is applied to stop rotation of one drum in the transmission that holds your clutch and steel pack. This is pretty much essential to proper opperation of your transmission. Without this it will fail much sooner than normal. You probably have some unusual shift problems as well, which you may not know about. I'm really suprised this came loose. Either the band broke, or the piston that actuates it has a broken spring. I'd get it to a shop to get it fixed.

What does the part look like? If it's a larger chunk of metal it could anything from a bushing in a planetary to pieces clutch material. I could use some more information here. If you have a picture that would be even better.

This happens when bands have not been regularly serviced allowing the piston in the servo to have excessive travel.the piston then kinks sideways and jams allowing tension release to loosen. can be repaired in car but will require new piston "O" ring and honeing of cylinder ,refiting and adjusting of bands

2001 hyundai transmission seems to buck as if almost staling and slips when excellerating from a stop

YOUR TRANS NEEDS A FILTER AND OIL CHANGE YOU CAN DO IT YOUR SELF JUST BUY A FILTER KIT REMOVE THE PAN AND DROP THE OIL UNDOO THE BOLTS AT THE REAR OF THE PAN AND SLOWLEY MOVE FORWARD THAT WAY THE OIL WILL RUN OUT OF THE BACK OF THE PAN MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LARGE FLAT CONTAINER TO CATCH THE OIL
CHANGE THE FILTER AND RE FIT THE PAN YOUR TRANS SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 3.5 L OF OIL
SYNTHETIC TRANS OIL IS MORE EXPENSIVE BUT IT WORKS ALOT BETTER THAN STANDARD OIL

no drain plug, no car or truck has had a drain plug for decades, reason? they want the filter changed with the fluid, so they make you pull the trans pan to drain the fluid, one very messy job.
