LAst winter my2001 mustang convertible began having trouble starting in cold weather.... It had a strong crank but would take a few attempts to finally start... It didnt ahppen all the time, on and off but enough to be a problem and it seemed to be getting worse. Then spring came and it was fine all summer, never a problem. Now that the cold weather is back it is doing it again now worse than ever. I had a mechanic look at it at the end of last winter and he could figure it out. Can anyone help me ?
SOURCE: 99 Windstar starts fine in winter but not during summer or spring
its vapor locking, losen the fuel cap the next time it does it if that takes care of the problem then replace the fuel cap!!!

this is only a possibility but some vehichles have a air charge sensor wich is located in the intake this sensor measure the tempeture in the air intake and tells the computer how to set the air fuel mixture depending on the tempeture, if it is broke it will not provide the proper fuel air mixture you can check this sensor with an ohmeter and a hair dryer, remove the sensor and with the ohmeter wires conected to the sensor connections move the hair dryer closer to the sensing end of the sensor and the ohmage should slowly change, if it does not change or changes erratically it is bad.
