Re: key wont turn in the ignition
I work at jeep and this is very common. you need a new ignition lock cylinder. easy repair but you need to buy it from a dealer and bring the key and lock cylinder to a locksmith to get it coded
My Jeep just started doing this as well. I never know when it will start. Not very reliable. It will go in the key hole, but not turn. I must be patient with it! How much is it for that ignition lock cylinder?
Until it can be fixed simply hit the key in the ignition 3 times, if your hand does not work use a small screw driver.
If the wheels are turned very far in either direction this can result in tension on the key lock. If this is the case, turn wheel in direction they are turned and while holding tension on wheel, try to then turn the key. Otherwise, I'd really have to be there to figure it out!!!
I can't turn the key to start the car. The key is also touchy in the doors. 99 4Runner Key problem or ignition jammed?
