I replaced the relay/fuse is ok/new glow plugs and new harness 2-wire . The car will start and run but takes for ever to get going. I put a test light on harness. It's not getting any power until the car is running, after it starts the plugs get 12 volts. I put a jumper to the battery and it gives the plugs power.
SOURCE: Nissan vanette not starting from cold
My vanette had exactly the same problem yesterday. The glow plugs have a timer and a relay. I think that if the light on the dash goes on and off as normal then its probably the relay not the timer. So I have replaced the relay (£50 nissan dealer only) which is located in the center console below the radio/heater controls. Until its really cold again tomorrow I wont know if its really cured it but I'm fairly certain that will be it.
SOURCE: No glow plug light, car turns over but won't start, no CEL or codes
I don't have the solution but a possible help in diagnosing. If you remove the water temperature sensor connector from the sensor, the glow plug light should stay on when you go to start the car. Try leaving it on for 15 seconds and then start the car. If it starts right away, it is your sensor. If it doesn't, the good luck.
The sensor is located on the right side of the engine near the top, at the back. It is in the coolant fitting directly behind the hose from the rad, just left of the thermostat. Be careful to disconnect the wires, and not remove the sensor, or you will loose a lot of coolant. The sensor is held in by a separate plastic clip, and the harness just has a little built in clip on the side. Hope you have small hands...

very common for the harness that plugs onto the glow plugs to have too much resistance it will still work but will set codes

recheck your body ground may have surface rust on bolt, body, or connection

Do you have dual fuel tanks? Place the return fuel line from the back of the fuel pump in a bucket and see if it will start. If yes replace the fuel tank switching valve. It may switch supply side ok, but not return side and if so it is plugging the return, which will cause a no start stuation. If it starts running the return line into a bucket replace the switching valve.
