Dashboard Hum My 2006 Tucson dashboard check engine light came on. Went to Autozone for free diagnosis which showed loose gas cap. Tightened gas cap and light went out. Two days later, light came on again, but gas cap is still tight. Went online. Got suggestion to disconnect battery for a few minutes and did that. Light is out, but now there is a hum coming from the dashboard when the key is turned on, which stops a few seconds after the key is turned off. What's up?

SOURCE: how to turn off Check Engine light on 2004 Lexus

Sometimes the light will stay on for 100-500 miles depending on the fault code. You can disconnect the battery to reset it, but you will have to reset the radio and other memory such as seats mirrors.

SOURCE: 1996 Olds cierra, drivers power window doesn't

these cars a famous for bad switches but first make sure wires are connected good at the switch on drivers door, then look at the wiring coming into the driver door this wiring sometimes breaks a wire or two. this wiring is located in the center of the door where the hinges are, there a rubber boot covering them pop boot out one side at a time and slide back as far as it will go and check wires closely for any split in half then do the same othe the other end of the boot.

Malfunction Indicator light stays on on my 2006 Jeep Liberty.\r\nCar runs fine but light has stayed on when operating. I have checked gas cap. How can I turn off dashboard indicator light?

Mil light is coming on because it's registering a dtc (diagnostic trouble code) may or may not be evap/fuel vapor discharge like a loose or faulty seal in your gas cap. Have codes checked at an auto parts store (for free) and they can tell you what code/codes are showing. List them here for solutions. You can also have them erase code and if mil lamp comes on again you know somethings to blame and you need to check it out.

Malfunction indicator light on. what does it mean is wrong?

this light comes on when 1 or about 200 malfunctions has occured in the electronic engine and emission controls, it can be as simple as a loose gas cap to a failed fuel injector, to find out what fault code is stored in the computers memory you must have what is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone do this for free.

THE ENGINE LITE ON THE 2006 SRX IS THE ONE WITH THE LITTLE ENGINE SHOWING. P.S. iT WENT OUT ON THE WAY HOME LAST NITE

Intermittent fault is difficult to diagnose. It may have been as minor as a loose gas cap.
AutoZone will check it free. They will extract the last code. Let us know what the fault code is.

The check engine light keeps coming on -we were told it was because gas cap was loose-but she filled up & tightened the cap-but still on

First, you need to go to a local parts store and find out what the code means. If it shows a small leak, the gas cap probably needs replaced. Gas caps need replaced more often now that computers register fuel emissions.

Enigne light is on a few days ago i had the message check gas cap and now the light for engine is lit and gas cap has been tightened. Does it need to be reset? Or take to someone help.

It does need reset. Try a local AutoZone or parts store that does free check engine lights. Any repair shop will charge diagnosis.
