Battery dead in 2000 BMW 740IL control panel didn't turn off

Last night I could not get the control panel light to go off or the light on the gear shift to go off. Now this morning the battery is dead. Yesterday I drove approx 200 miles ran some errands and left my dog in the car while I was inside the store.  I thought I disabled the alarm system since it didn't go off while she was in there.  After the second stop, my remote key quit working, I couldn't lock or unlock the doors with the remote key. When I got home, and tried to lock the door with the key it still didn't work. The key led flashed once or twice slowly, then more rapidly when I tried to lock the car. In addition the control panel light would not go off, or the light on the gear shift.  I turned the key off and on the air bag warning light came on, then went off.  Lights still wouldn't go off.  After reading the manual thinking it might be something with the internal motion sensor, being triggered because of the dog inside the car. I tried everything I could think of but the control panel light never went off, or the light on the gear shifter.  Now the battery is dead and I am totally stumped and frustrated. HELP!!!

SOURCE: 1994 BMW 740il - Doors will not unlock, battery is dead

try this, put the key in the drivers side door then turn the key to open position as th same time lift up the door handle . if this does not work then jack up the car , and with jumper cables hooked them to the starter--red to solinod of starter and the ground to any good ground.then hook the other end to another vehicle.keep in mind all the safety precautions! Then try the door with the key in normal operation.Your battwery is dead.!

How do i find the fuel pump relay switch on 2000 bmw 740il

I do not have the 740IL manual, but generally the fuel pump relay is either on the right side in the trunk above the battery or behind the glove box. (there is usually a little card indicating which relay it is)

Bmw 740il 2000 not starting with key only direct start

Neutral lockout switch or ignition switch if the car is an automatic. Switch on the clutch if it is a stick. If auto try starting it in neutral.

I have a 2000 bmw 740il with intermitting starting problems. The battery is good. For days, it start just fine, but suddendly, it won't start and I have to jump it. Before dishing out the big bucks, I need...

It sounds to me like neither the battery nor the alternator is the problem. The first thing to check is the wire connections at the starter, a starter solenoid if one is used and the battery. Dead alternators never charge the battery and a car with a dead alternator will not ever start without a jump or a charge. A dying starter, if it turns over at all will draw so much current that it will kill the battery in a couple of starts. A final note - many auto parts stores can check the condition of the entire battery - charging - starting system without taking anything off the car and they will do it for free. I would check for loose wires first.

1998 bmw 740il will not start

check battery cables.make sure they are not loose are or corroded.if battery cables okay.problem could be faulty starter - electronic immobilizer control - ignition switch + check its fuse first.if you disconnect battery cables besure to turn off radio so you wont lose code.

1998 bmw 740il will not start even with new a battery

If you checked all the fuses try putting the car in neutral sometimes the shifter gets misadjusted and wont start till the car is completely in park.If not check for a lose wire to the starter. If the car has an after market alarm you will have to turn it off before starting there should be a little buuton under the drivers dash or kick panel.GOOD LUCK
