Transmission, drive train, and U joints have been replaced. Still getting serious vibration in the car between 55 and 65 mph. Stops when you reach 70. Any ideas?
I am a minor shade tree mechanic here so this is just a guess. It might be a front brake rotor, a break pad caliper that has a sticky hydraulic piston, front wheel bearing, or something else. Look at the pad and rotor wear for it possibly being a break system issue. Not sure, if you do not have a solid front axle look at the inner part of the wheel under the vehicle where the ball mates into the socket for any wet fluids or unusual gunk or build up around the axle and break calipers for a wheel bearing problem. Jack up the front end and make sure you chalk the rear tires, vehicle is in PARK and the steering wheel is unlocked as to where the steering wheel can be turned if needed. After vehicles front tires are off the ground try to pivot the front wheels to point in a different direction left turn or right turn. This can be tried by physically grabbing the tire trying to move the tire to point left or right. If the front tires are able to be pointed in a different direction without the aid of the steering wheel, then it could be a wheel bearing issue or a more serious issue. Hope you can make sense of these instructions, and hope this helps you find and fix any and all existing problems you are having with your vehicle.

I had the same problem. Vibrations start around 40mph, up through 60 . seems to be ok when I am off the accelerator. The problem was not dirty ETM rather a busted passenger side cv boot and axle. Fixed it and the problem is gone. The part from Volvo its expensive. Over $500. But OEM part can be had for less than $200. I have a 2003 s60 T5.

Lift the back of your car. With a stable rest and with the two hind wheels hanging, run your car up to the speed where you experienced vibration. have someone take care of the throttle and shifting while you observe the transmission shaft. You may have an imbalanced shaft.

If the tires are round once checked on a balance machine to be true. Next check the driveshaft is a weight missing, dings or bent, u-joints loose?
Then check the rear ring

I just got the car back today and it has brand new drive shaft U-joints including a brand new drive train and transmission. The idler arm, upper ball joints, and brake master was replaced a short time ago and it has brand new brakes all the way around. New tune up and the alignment has been checked as well. Getting ready to have the tires rotated and balanced to see if this is an issue. Could it be the stabilizer bar?
