You need to have the transmission control module (TCM for short) tested for fault codes, this transmission is shifted by solenoids and they set fault codes when they malfunction in most cases. Other causes are sticking valve body check balls or internal pressure leaks in the hydraulics. Have a transmission repair shop drive it and see if they agree with me on this preliminary diagnosis. Aamco transmission repair does the fault code testing of the TCM for free,.
