The abs system has picked up on a problem with the abs. the abs will not be functional till the problem is repaired. the abs cpu needs to be scanned for fault codes and it will tell the mechanic exactly which part of the system is having trouble. once fixed the light will go out. mike

No speed sensor signal at one of the wheels. An expensive fix just to make the light on the dash go out. ABS light on will not affect normal braking function. I would just remove the light bulb in the dash. ABS function is barely noticeable and not cost effective.
mostly it is good practice to disconnect the battery when working on a transmission removal and that may have affected the CPU program in the ECM
try using a scan tool to reset the ECM
AS to not connecting properly to the ECM , maybe the mechanic is not aware of the procedure
a broken wire on the abs sensor unit will put the abs light on but not the others
Traction control is with the wheel sensors. A bad sensor, bad bearing, or bad wiring. ABS is also controlled by these. Code readers don't read ABS and Traction control. Get the vehicle on a scanner....
Trac control and ABS lights come on usually when one of your ABS wheel sensors is either bad and needs replacing or corroded and just may need cleaning. This happened to me. It was my front left abs sensor. they replaced it and al the lights went out and all good now. I also bought an OBDII that plugs into your car and the computer tells the OBDII whats wrong and what sensor it is. You also get the option to erase the codes and put out some or all the lights on your dash. Some times a glitch will light a light on the dash and resetting or erasing it with the OBDII corrects the problem. Hope this helps. God Bless :O)
These two lights work together. The traction control uses the ABS to work. You most likely have a bad wheel speed sensor. Have it scaned with a scan tool under the ABS. Replace which ever sensor it says is open.
there is a good chance that the wire for the sensor has an internal break, this can happen if the axle drops down or the brake calipers falls down. Replacing the wire from the sensor to where it connects to the harness should fix this.
When your abs light comes on it means that something is wrong with you ABS system. Sometimes the abs sensor get durty and can make the ABS light come on in the dash.
Only wiht a scan tool can that light be reset. If the brakes looked good to the mechanic then the problem could be a wheel speed sensor, transmission speed sensor, or the ABS module itself. This things can be checked by a diagnostic scan tool.
