I have a volkswagen Passat 1999 model. it has been squeaking when I turn the steering wheel in any direction. I have opened up the bonnet and the noise seems to be coming from the passenger side of the car. This morning when I took the car from the garage there was black oily looking stuff on the floor where the passenger side wheel and bits are. The squeaking from the noise even had someone in the car park wait for me parking to tell me how loud it was. Any Ideas what it is, and how to sort it, before I take it to a garage and spend a fortune.
Hi, go under the car and look behind the tire ,there you going to see a black rubber boot ,if that boot is broken that is were the grease is coming out from,if so , the cv joint was runing dry and need to be replaced, is the part inside the boot, the boot need to be replaced too.this should cost betwen $100.00 to $200.00.( parts and labor.)
