Use a copper washer like on the brake lines, not an o ring.

SOURCE: after replacing starter and removing slave cylinder, clutch fails to work

sounds like you have a air pocket or you fail to engage the slave cylinder push rod If you disconnected the slave cylinder from the hose proceed to bleed out the slave cylinder if you didn't take you slave cylinder and whit out disconnecting the hose and make sure the push rod is against the clutch push arm.

SOURCE: clutch slave cylinder replacement or repair -

You will have to replace the rubber and the piston like mechanism to get this done. If you found an assembly replacement for the entire clutch slave, the better. The leaks may be caused by faulty rubber or valve on the piston but this can be caused by the linings of the cylinder becoming rough due to wear and tear.

SOURCE: Clutch pedal does not disengage clutch

If the car hasn't been driven for a while it could be corrosion on the fork but I think that is unlikely. I think you are right about the release bearing being jammed in the spring. If the truck has quite high mileage, it probably means a clutch job.

2006 honda civic 5 speed manual trans engine surges when down shifting from 2nd to 1st

Greetings & salutations Robert Avila,

(First question on FIXYA... Welcome).

Your engine surging and what gear you
"DOWN-SHIFT" to ... ought have very little in
common save for one condition (I can think of)...

Your clutch RELEASE is MARGINAL..!!

Check your master/slave clutch cylinders to see
if there is any leakage (fluid might also be low)...

These are not EXPENSIVE and USUALLY fail
in pairs...

If the surging happens with the clutch released... that
is a WORN CLUTCH DISC (replacement time)...

How to find 1996 clutch slave cylinder's location

old post but there are 2 post now.
so...
FSM quote:
On 1996-99 vehicles the slave cylinder is called a concentric slave cylinder. It is located on the inside of the transmission bell housing on the input shaft. Removal of the transmission is required to replace it. It directly engages the clutch release bearing.

My 91 chevy c1500 clutch has stopped

The slave cylinder on the transmission is leaking. It may be rebuilt or replaced. It will have to have the air bled out of it either way you go. The bleeder screw in on the side if the slave cylinder .

Where is the 1999 Saturn SL2 slave cylinder located?

on a manual transmission the Clutch Slave Cylinder is located on the drivers side front of the transmission. You can locate it by first finding the clutch master cylinder on the drivers side of the firewall. Then fallow the plastic line to the front of the transmission.

To remove the slave you will first twist it then pull it out of the transmission.

The clutch slave and mater cylinder are replaced as an assembly.

1996 f250 5 speed manual. Clutch must be to the floor before I can get it into gear. Is this normal?

No, your clutch is controlled by a slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. Check your clutch master cylinders fluid level first, if its high, your clutch is starting to wear down. Next, on the bottom of your transmission there will be an inspection cover, remove and check with a suitable flashlight if the clutch slave cylinder is leaking, if so, replace both clutch master cylinder and cslave cylinder. Stay away from slave cylinders that you have to build yourself such as those at autozone! Bleeding of these components will be required.

Clutch went out

Unfortunately if the clutch pack has failed there is really no option but to remove the transmission.

Clutch problem, where is the slave cylinder located

The clutch slave cylinder is located on the left side of the transmission, but i believe that the slave cylinder may come with the master cylinder and lines already attached
