Exact same problem on a 2000 Chevy 2500. cold starting idle fluctuates and will sometimes stall. Once the engine warms up....problem goes away.
I also have a coolant leak that just began. A friend tells me it is probably the water pump.Exact same problem on a 2000 Chevy 2500. cold starting idle fluctuates and will sometimes stall. Once the engine warms up....problem goes away.

Hi a bad water pump will not let the engine run normal unless it is frozen up. it sounds like your coolant temp sensor has gon bad.that will cause rough cold starts and work fine after warmed up

After you have the battery charged, you may want to check the fuel pump relay and see if the pump is getting power. Its possible the pump is cooked from not having gas in the tank. The liquid gas cools and lubes the electric pump.
u may have a brake booster leaking vacum when u apply the brake its useing vacum from engine see if u can hear a hissing sound when apllying brake if so thats ur problem
2 things come to mind, first check and clean all battery and starter connections. second, maybe you have something draining the battery. next time it rolls slow, put on a battery charger and see what happens. also, even though it is a new battery, it still could have a weak cell.
