Starter problemsup Sometimes the passlock light is on and the truck won't start after 3 times. If you wait 10 minutes (sometimes less) it will start. Weather, gas level, nothing seems to affect it. It just decides when it wants to start. We have disconnected the battery cables to kill the power to re-set everything, and that doesn't work. any help would be so very much appreciated. 03 grand am 3.4l no crank at all. All the light on dash work good fuel pressure starter spins and engine starts and then stalls when jumping the starter directly installed new pass lock switch and...

If the Passlock switch has been replaced, the computer has to "learn" the new Passlock code. You will need to hook up a battery charger to perform the learning process. (It takes about 30 minutes with the key in the "ON" position and it will run the battery down.)

Step 1:

Turn the key to the "START" position and release to the "RUN" position. The "SECURITY" light will be flashing. After about 10 minutes, the light will stop flashing.
.
Step 2:

Turn the key "OFF" then back to the "RUN" position. (Do NOT try to crank it yet) The light will start flashing again. Wait about 10 minutes for it to stop flashing.
.
Step 3:
.
Turn the key "OFF" and back to "RUN" one last time. The light will be flashing again. This time, when it stops flashing, do not turn the ignition off. Instead, turn the key from the "RUN" position to "START". The engine should start and run. The computer has now learned the new Passlock code.

Well i put a new starter on the car the the theft light stays on will it fix the problem if i take it to the dearler to put an ingition lock cyclinder in it because my car want start.

Ok then, from your description and the
make/model/year of the car you have there,
it appears you've reset the VATS.

The car's security immobilizer
reader at the key switch
does not recognize the coded
chip in the ignition key any longer.

You can try to put the key
in the ignition, turn to the on position &
wait at least 10 min like that.
(Do not turn off the key switch before
10 minutes as elapsed!)

Once done, the key is re-programmed and
should allow the fuel injectors to work again.
The car would start now if corrected.

In some cases, the VATS (GM'S VEHICLE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM)
will re learn the code this way, and will then
allow the restart, however if this does not work,
then you can simply tow it to any GM vehicle dealer
to have the service department re code it.

There is a permanent solution though.
Adding the PLJX Self learning Bypass module (59.95)
will bypass the PASSLOCK system in your vehicle
for good. See this at www.PASSLOCK2.com

Your key has a computer chip in it that tells the computer that the person who owns the car is trying to start it. Sometimes the key will lose its memory and the car computer thinks your a thief with the wrong key. You may have to have a new key made from a code the dealer can aquire from the VIN number I believe.

The ignition keys has a resistor value for the ignition to read and after a few years the resistance may change and the Pass Lock has a had time reading it's value so you have to reset the pass lock to read the keys again.

If the PassLock light is on, there's a fault code stored in the computer. The ONLY way to turn off the light is to get the code and fix the problem.

o2 sensor will not stall your truck,ecm will bypass o2 code and run on open loop,or ecm default setting,dont search further ! your problem is all related to remote starter and bypass,youll have to fix wiring properly to original state,or your problem will probably get worse!

Eliminating the system is harder than it sounds. The Passlock reciever located in the ignition lock cylinder are famous for giving this very problem.

yes you can deactivate the factory alarm system and put in a after market alarm. when you disconnect your battery cable the system may have lost the code. you can have a lock smith check same for you.
