I need to know how to wire up a starter coil to a 1983 crown victoria
If you turn the key and the engine spins but doesnt fire try checking the timing for it to make spark at the time you need it to ,if it's out it wont catch and run or check for spark at the spark plug make sure it has spark use a dummy sparkplug in the boot and hold it on a ground and crank engine look for a blueish spark and if you have bare hands holding it you'll get a good jolt (insulated pliers)

the car is an83 crown victoria we just bought a new starter coil for it but we dont know how to wire it.the ignition will turn over but it dont get any fire to it can you send me a diagram or tell me what you think is wrong with it?
ill try it thank you very much for your advice
this question needs to be rephrased. (wire up a starter coil) the coil isnt associated with the starter , think of a solenoid as a electric plunger that moves when you energize it , which push'd your bendix into the flywheel and turns the engine.
there should be a big positive main cable supllying power to the starter that connects to the solenoid and there should be another wire on another smaller terminal that runs up to your ignition switch. the starter is bolted to the ground .
I want to know why my starter keep burning out
