My 1999 mercury cougar died randomly down the road...

Will not start back up... seems to be a fuel or spark issue... prior had a bad lag on throttle acceleration while throwing no codes... fuel pump turns on and can hear... leaning towards a sensor of some sort... maybe TPS or mass air flow... but i did have the mass air flow come unplugged before and ran just did not run good...

also i did spray some starting fluid into the air box through the intake tube... no response from the engine at all... is it possible for the tps to control the engines air intake or what could possible just go bad down the road that is related to the ignition... has newer plugs and wires...

I'd say crank angle sensor gone intermittant, does'nt often throw codes as ECU usually thinks driver stalled engine as it suddenly sees no rpm signal

SOURCE: 95 mercury i replaced tps and mass flow air and car running for 10 min now wont start at all

I would check for trouble codes in the computer and fuel pressure next.
You need to figure out if you are dealing with a no spark or low fuel pressure issue to proceed.

Why is My 1988 GMC S15 Randomly dying?

Possible IAC, idle control valve, trouble. Could be dirty. Did you add the sea foam through the throttle body or fuel tank? Also could be the electric control module.

Have you ran an Oil pressure test? low oil pressure (20lb)or no oil pressure(0lb)and the lifters will not open the valves enough to let fuel in to the cylinder to start your engine!

1999 mercury cougar; had fuel filter and fuel pump replaced. still won't crank acts as if it is out of gas has over half a tank

try spraying starting fluid in the throttle body. If it starts for a few seconds, it's a fuel issue. If not, it's an electrical issue.

1999 mercury cougar. won't start...cranks...battery ok.

V6 ? 4CYL? Have you verified SPARK? Did anyone check the "fuel pump inertia switch?" Its in the right front kick panel. If it was a "Anti-theft Issue" the light would be on or flashing.

My 80 ford f150 v8 302 wont start up i

if this is a 1980 F150, emissionwiz is correct in saying it has a carburetor, if your engine runs on ether, you do not have fuel supply to the engine. Check fuel delivery at the front of carburetor, should be a line screwed into the carb, may be connected by a rubber hose, remove this line and crank engine, look to see fuel is gushing out of the line, if no fuel the pump is bad, check fuel lines back to pump for leaks, replace leaking lines if necessary. If you get fuel then your float inside the carb is stuck, and the carb will need some attention, hope this helps, let me know
