SOURCE: Nissan Maxima 1997- Battery

Sounds as if you need the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The contacts inside are most likely worn out.

SOURCE: brake light on nissan maxima 1997

First check your brake fluid. It may be low. If its low, have your brakes checked, they may be worn out and you may need brakes. If the master cylinder is tottaly empty, than you may have a leak. Here is a quick test for the E-brake switch. Look at the "brake light" while its on and pul on the e-brake while you are holding the release button in the handle. Pump the e-brake lever repeadetly and observe the "brake light" if it gets brighter and dimmes as you are pumping the e-brake lever., than the swithc is OK and you have a low brake fluid level. Hope this helps. let me know what you find.

Door lock dont work and remote lock does

Look under the Hood and Locate the Fuse Relay Box. Should be on the Drivers side torwards the Firewall. There is a Relay in it for the Door Locks. Replace this Relay and see if they will not work. Also check the Fuses in BOTH Boxes inside and under Hood with a Flashlight and Make for Sure that no Fuses are Blown. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

We have a 2007 Entourage and you cannot lock it with the car running. We installed a remote starter and it will not lock the doors when it is remotely started. Can this feature be disabled?

i think that this is to prevent you from locking your keys in the car with the engine running.
Some remote starters have a feature that when the car is running (and in park) you can hit the remote start button twice for one second each - then you can take the key out of the ignition and still have the car running.
At this point....if you would hit the 'lock' button on your door the doors would immediately unlock. However, if you get out of the car and close the door leaving it unlocked and then you hit the 'lock' on your original car remote the doors will lock and stay locked. So now the car is running the doors are locked and you have the keys in your hands. Then you can run into the store or house real quick with your car locked.
Once you come back, you hit 'unlock' on the original car remote. the doors will unlock - you can get it - and then before hitting the brake put the key in the ignition and turn it (dont crank it) as if you had when originally using the remote starter.
Maybe this will work for you.....

Remote door locks

Hi,
Had the exact problem on my 02- Stick you hand under and pull out one of the relays where the clicking is.
Really tight under but I did it more by feel. I also went to a auto recycle place and picked up a relay from another sonata for 1 dollar, better than 30 dollars. Works like new. Take in the old one and match pins and numbers. There are two relays the same one for opening and one for closing . It is small and is hard to pull out. Good luck.

Door locks don't work

Disassemble the paneling on left side ,under the steering wheel. Remove all screws and pull out the panel until you can you can reach behind it to remove the two Black Relays, on the side closest to Steering wheel. Remove the Relay covers, Clean the contacts with a 1/8 fine strip of 600 wet/dry sand paper. Only place the paper between the contacts, and pull out while holding slight pressure on the relay Armature. Turn over the sandpaper and repeat once again. Very gently press the TOP resting contact pad closer to the armature, to lessen the gap between the contact points, so the armature doesn't have to travel as far to reach the closed contact position. Repeat the above with the other2nd Relay. Replace the covers, reinstall the relays And test the Door locks prior to buttoning up the paneling. Note, a pair of long needle nosed pliers will help in removing the relays. Just Grip the relay and rock in Forward and Backward as you apply upward pressure.

Remote lock for back doors and rear tail gate door

Actually I found a solution. I remove the lock relay form the fuse panel and placed it back in place. I did not replace it. After doing this they worked. I probably need to replace the relay at some point, but for now that solved the problem. It was hard for me to believe that there is a separate relay for the lock and unlock circuit.

Door lock

Make sure the battery on your Keyless Entry remote is a working battery.

If thats not it, it could very well be the actual button on your Keyless Entry remote being faulty. But it could also be a relay in the car aswell. Depending on the cost of a Relay versus the cost of a Keyless Entry remote, I would try to replace either/or and try again, whichever is cheaper. The Relay may be cheaper, but your Key-FOB sounds like it could be the cause.
