Strong Gasoline smell after my CRV motor is turned off

I have a 2002 CVR. I always secure the gas cap. The Honda dealer checked for leaks and found none. They recommend that i not buy cheap gas. I disagree. I never had this problem with my 2000 CRV.

Since this CRV has 92000 plus miles, could it be a fuel filter problem? Is there a fuel filter near the gas tank? Thanks...

02 CRV. I have a stong gas smell coming from under car after driving at least 20 minutes and parking in garage. I've replaced fuel cap, fuel filler neck, charcoal filter and fuel pump seal. When I lift the access panel to the fuel pump, I can smell gas. Ideas?

Smelled gas and check engine light came on. Periodically have smelled gas over the past 6 months or so. What is cause?

Hi Ed.
this is all i could find at the moment.
Gas Cap Causing Gasoline Smell in Car. I know it may seem obvious, but a loose or missing gas cap can cause a fuel smell in your vehicle. You could even have a faulty gas cap that is leaking fumes. A faulty gas cap can also cause the check engine light to illuminate with a DTC on newer cars.

Have a 95 Accord LX, 4 cyls. One of four spark plugs went bad and misfired. The gasoline was not always burned, ending up smelling like gasoline. Changed all four plugs and the engine is OK now.

First advice: do not park the car in the garage until you've found the cause of the smell and fixed the leak. It takes very little gasoline vapour in a confined space to form an explosive mixture which could be detonated by a small static spark.

Strong gasoline smell outside of vehicle. will replacing the gas cap help?

I had this problem and it was a leaking fuel tank (actually the place where the tube going to the place where you pump gas connects to the Gas Tank). The dealer fixed it for free, there was a special policy adjustment on this known problem.

2002 oldsmobile bravada, have a strong gas smell in the air cleaner

Take the air cleaner off and open the throttle (have someone hold the gas pedal to the floor) and look down into the intake manifold, if you see gasoline, the Fuel Pressure Regulator may be leaking sometimes there are plastic fuel lines inside that can leak also. When either of these leak, the engine should run REAL BAD/RICH. Black smoke coming from tail pipe.

Gas odor when at stops sign or parking in garage

I recently had the same problem. It turned out that the fuel regulator on the engine at the left side just above the intake manifold had an intermitent leak. The gas leaking was not always visible so I had the regulator changed and that solved the problem.

Gasoline Smell

you may have a small hole in the exhaust line somewhere (I had one just past the cat converter on my Honda). Have Meineke check it out for you (they'll look for free!)
