I 'll attempt. 3 places I have found onstar on GM vehicles. Older cars, you have to pull the dash to access them, Not yours. Next is under the dash in front of the center console. Still a pain to access, just to even unplug. Next is in the trunk, on the drivers side behind the carpet. Easy to recognize. One or two plugs and an antenna wire. I haven't eve replaced one. But disconnected many because they will kill data lines/ other computers. Just shorted out.
Hi there: Almost directly behind the on-star button behind center of dash. Just keep in mind that the Vehicle Communication Interface Mocule (VCIM or VCM aka OnStar Module) has a specific set of unique numbers that be the module to each vehicle. These numbers, the 10 digits station identification and the 11 digits electronic serial number, are used by Natural Cellular Network and OnStar to identify the specific vehicle. Because these numbers are tied to the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) of the vehicle, you must never exchange these parts with those of another vehicle.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important

It depends on WHICH PART of the OnStar system you want to know about....
> The control unit is located in the rear view mirror assembly
> The Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCU or VIU) is located behind the rear seat back
> The Celular Telephone Module depends on whether your vehicle is equipped with GPS: With GPS it is located under the right side of the rear package shelf. Without GPS it is located behind the rear seat back.
The Vehicle interface unit VIU and the Vehicle control unit VCU and the
receiver is located behind the glove box in the passenger footwell. the
onstar button is located int he overhead console. the modules are vin
specific so they cant be swapped out without GM. you can remove them I
have a 02 and since its no longer supported by onstar i yanked out the
VIU and VCU and the cell phone receiver. then took the GPS transponder
off the front driver side of the windshield and the rear attenna off
the back glass and got an overhead console minus onstar and put it up.
They unplug and cause no problems
The fuse is fuse 32. The actual guts of the Onstar system is in the
frontmost overhead compartment that is between the driver and passenger
seats. However, if the option wasn't purchased you'll just have an
extra slot for sunglasses.
Unplugging the Onstar unit should deactivate it and if you can get to it. I haven’t yet taken the time to locate the Onstar unit in my Yukon. In older Yukons, Tahoes, and Suburbans the Onstar was in the cargo area, above and behind the right rear wheel well. However, it’s my understanding that when they redesigned the Onstar unit for smaller size, they started putting it behind the instrument cluster in the dashboard. Good luck
